    Race Report 6/24

Webster Groves Crit in St. Louis.

The course favored my style of riding and since I was only 1 point away from my cat 3 upgrade my teammates worked for me the whole race.

I sat in third to fifth almost the entire race, usually behind a teammate (Gabe).

Teammates chased down a couple of potential breaks and I was forced to chase down only one.

I sat in the entire race, not listening to my body when it screamed "TAKE A FLYER OFF THE FRONT!"

My sprint started just a bit earlier than I wanted, but the technical part of the finish meant that whoever went into the last two turns in the front would probably win.

One teammate won a $50 prime, Gabe took 5th, and I took the win.

My last race as a cat 4 will be next weekend at the Illinois State Championships. How sweet would that be to walk away with one final win!

Photo was taken just before I crossed the finish line as I was beginning to put my arms in the air.

Congratulations. Seems like most of the BF racing forum crew is either crashing or winning ... or in my case just sucking.

Don't worry, bud-- I'm crashing AND sucking.

    Congrats!

Though I haven't looked at the results yet (mainly because I don't want to be reminded of my poor performance) it looked like you Team Mack guys were really well represented!

As for my performance on Sunday, I have my excuses, but they are just that, excuses. Time to train harder!

Well . . . it looks like I pulled the bikeforums double this weekend then. Saturday on a training ride a new dog came out of nowhere on a route we always take and headed right for the group. The German Shepard took out my front wheel and sent me over the handlebars. I escaped with a little road rash and a bruised hip. Fortunately I was still able to race and win on Sunday.
