So that's american viewership? Even with the drop, it's still double that it was in 2002 so there was major carryover after Lance. And I think if Floyd had not tested positive for doping, the viewership would be even greater this year.

Yes, it was entertaining to see him get soundly beaten every July since the last century.

I think thats also the "Basso factor", " Vino factor", and "everyone interesting being removed the day before factor". still good to see the ratings were higher than in 02

It's gotta be pretty hard to establish ratings for something like that. I mean, there's over a 100 hours of coverage, what counts as 'watching the TdF'?

I think it was the Cipo factor. No Lion King, no women viewers.

About 1.4 of the 1.7 million never heard of Basso or Vino. But based on our bike sales and the general talk in the shop, there is still a lot of interest in the Tour and cycling in general. A lot of that came from that seven year period...and the explosion of triathlons.

Was reading an article yesterday saying Versus has 2 more Tours under contract. Interesting to see what might happen after the contract runs out.

I stopped watching after Freddie Rodriguez crashed out last year. I'm guessing most American viewers did likewise.

No Fast Freddie = Ratings Disaster.

Who won it all, anyway?
