who's tired of the Versus monster-truck-voice commercials?

"It's going to be a red, white, black and blue summer."
Ugh... give me a break already. I'm pretty sure the percentage of people who watch cycling for the crashes is much lower than people who watch bullriding and MMA for the equivalent. Cyclists do have to deal with pain - lots of it - on climbs and TT's, and I'm very interested in that.
And the monster-truck voice gets old really quickly.

Hmmm.. Here, to get Versus, you have to have Digital cable, and the local company 'gives' you a DVR, soo.... Hooray fast forward?

On a similar note, my 2yo daughter loves to watch cycling on TV with me - must be the colors and the fact that she can relate to seeing her daddy ride. But I have to distract her or change the channel when those TapOut/Cage Raslin' commercials come on. I don't want her throwin' bows or body slammin' the other kids at the Y.

Look,

Versus's TdF ratings are not growing, and this could very well be the last year we see TdF coverage to this extent this year. They are trying to do what they can to bring in people who think of cycling as an effete sport for wussies. You and I know it is not, and in fact, may be the toughest sport that does not involve purposeful boldily harm to your opponent.

But knuckle-dragging Republicans who watch wrastling, bull riding and extreme fighting are not normally going to give the TdF a chance.

Give Versus a break.

My kids keep asking what "male enhancement" is all about.

"Why is that man smiling all goofy like that, Daddy?"

Tell them Male Enhancement refers to a better rider. You do not to clarify what exactly the men are riding.

Could you post some data to back that claim up. I'm not disputing that it's not true but I'd like to see what share they have this year compared to last. I'm sure the ratings are lower than '05, LA's last ride, but I'd like to see some hard data that shows the TdF ratings are lower this year than last.

I was going on the fact that the expectations were low for Versus this year. Not sure if the ratings have surpassed expectation.

I'll just watch the live feed from ITV on my computer.

Al Trautwig sucks, and there is no debate about that.

Oh but our fearless leader has said that he and the rest of his incompetent marry men don't live in the fact based world. Republicans love facts, like the earth is only 4000 years old and man and dinosaurs lived together in perfect harmony. Or my favorite one about the fact that Saddam was weeks away from nuking a petting zoo in Iowa. Yep facts are a Republicans best friend. No wait that would hookers and little boys..those are a Republicans best friend.

I’m starting not to care about TV coverage of cycling. Internet video and on demand video is the way of the future, and I think we'll see this more and more with cycling in the next few years. Most of the major pro races had great coverage on cyclingtv and other online "channels", were as Versus only had Cyclism Sunday's.

Or we could go back to the 30 minute updates on Espn with the 1 hour show on CBS after the Tour was over...

I'll gladly deal with the commercials to have full coverage...

Yeah... as much as I want to take that driver from Smilin' Bob's hands and wrap it around his neck while whistling the male enhancement jingle that has burned itself into my brain (thanks, Enzyte!), I am very happy that we get to watch the entire Tour on TV.

Besides, the Specialized commercial with Bettini is a thing of beauty and makes me want to buy another Specialized, fly to Italy, and ride on the cobbles. God, I love that commercial.
