I was nearly in tears...(spoiler)

...watching Tyler cross the line and then get hugs from his wife and LA! This is the best TDF I've ever seen (OK, I've only seen 5).

Did my ears deceive me or did Kirsten Gum say she predicted Hamilton to win and the other guys didn't?

I guess she's not so dorky after all.

She's a dork- someone was whispering it into her earpiece and she was probably just spewing it back into the television set...

Actually to Kirsten's credit, she had been predicting Tyler for a while. But whether or not she's doing it based on cycling knowledge is doubtful. And yes, I agree with others that she's still a dork.

If that is it she should come out with better things to say. hmmmm.................. Doesn't seem to be working.

But seriously, have to give her credit for calling that one.

I believe it was in fact Tyler who held back the group to wait for Lance. As I recall, Ullrich was rocketing out in front until Tyler moved to the side and called them away. Class act.

Anybody notice whether or not USPS did any work to pull Tyler in? I didn't notice anything on the internet coverage. They were reporting that it was pretty much Telekom alone trying to close the gap. Maybe USPS was giving a little payback to Tyler for his sportsmanship by not working to catch him.

Tyler did go out front and told everyone to wait, however Ullrich did not try and attack while Lance was still down.

don.d I didn't see USPS trying to pull him back, but they were near the front of the peleton. I mainly just saw Telekom and the Euskatal (the orange team, I know I spelled it wrong) at the front trying to pull him in.

Good for USPS! Cyclingnews.com was reporting how USPS wouldn't let Tyler get to far out, but It's good to hear they didn't help in the chase.

Rocketing? So that would be why he took the long way round the next bend. He dropped his cadence and sat up. Ullrich has always played fair.

Allright, allright! She's a dork.

Anyway, did you notice how hopped up her and Bob got after the stage? They started to get all bouncy and giggly like a couple of valley girls.

"Like, oh my god! This is like the most awesome tour ever!"

"Yeah, Kirsten like totally, oh my god!"

Okay, maybe that was me.

Absolutely not. Ullrich was pacing and constantly checking back for the Yellow Jersey to rejoin. After all, Ullrich was behind the crash and was aware of it when it happened.

Whoever Hamilton thought needed to be held back, it wasn't Ullrich.

Hamilton says at cyclingnews.com that Basso and Zubeldia immediately accelerated when LA went down. If you look in the photogs, Hamilton is right behind them. Apparently he marshalled them back.
