Take all money and common sense PLEASE

Shimano Dura Ace rear der. circa 2007 - 180 grams / $119.99 @Performance

Lightweight full carbon rear der. - 120 grams. / $1000.00 @ Lightweight?

Thats a 60 gram difference = $881.00 difference

881/60= $14.68 a friggin gram.

Complete with Lightweight sticker to reinforce all the money you wasted.

Yep, you aren't actually supposed to ride with it.

That would get it dirty.

and $1300 AX Lightness brakes

And you've got the worlds most idiotic bike!

Incorrect. I was there, and NOTHING can really top that for stupidity. The Lightweight components won't snap apart because there are too many holes in them.

What's wrong with drug jokes? Anyone who thinks drugs aren't a laughing matter hasn't heard Denis Leary's routines on the topic. Never were truer words spoken.

Very, very, very few things aren't laughing matters. Just ask botto.

Onlookers must have laughed a lot then.

I can only imagine the bemused locals kicking back on their porches watching the local criterium and placing beer wagers on the collapse of various bikes.

"Cletus, I got a sixer-o-Coors on that yella Eyetalian Beeyonchee there with all the holes in it."

How do you calculate how much faster you can go for each gram less that you weigh? I ask because for us it'd do nothing. But if you were riding 2100 miles and it made a 3 minute difference, that could be worth $800+ to a pro. So...how do you calculate it?

The funny thing is to the non-cyclist we all look idiotic on how we spend money.

I guess the line where prices are outrageous for certain componants is a personal one.

i did all of the math last year after a hillclimb race (16 mile climb) and it was around 1 min per lb (of course thats the first lb, every pound is worth less and less and gets more and more expensive)

so thats .132 seconds per gram in that situation.

It would be a moot point. A pro would never ride it. Those guys count on their gear to not fail. This piece is OCP all the way.

I'm buying 2 of them today! One, so I can lighten my 21 lb bike by 60 grams, and the other I'll keep in my saddle bag just in case I need it. Might have to buy one more and wear it around my neck on a gold chain.

I was going to say that it looks like a cheap applique courtesy of your next-door neighbor's inkjet printer and budget clear Avery labels from Office Depot or something... Doesn't look classy to the tune of $1K...

What's the "drillium craze" you speak of? Is it just what it sounds like: people drilling holes in components to shave weight?
