It's good to see that pros drop water bottles too when trying to put them in the cage.

Is it just me or did Hincapie seem halfway pissed in that interview at the end saying he had the legs and wanted to defend but is a team player (that Levi was in the break).

Same thing I was thinking. Reminded me of Levi's interview right after Contrador officially won the Tour de France.

It reminded me of George's interview after Hoste won Flanders last year. That had to be a wierd vibe too, knowing you are not going to be teammates next year, but you can't chase a guy wearing your jersey.

Saul Raisin did ride and even though he finished DFL he did put in a reasonable performance, + 4 mins or so on the winner, which is fairly zippy for a first race back. Unfortunately for Saul my local pal Mike Norton of Rite Aid (a 2nd year domestic pro) did beat him. But it's great to see Mr. Raisin racing again. Miraculous recovery, and let's hope it continues.

But forget all THAT. The scary part is that Roger Aspholm who showed up on the Nyack Ride Sunday beats Mike Norton in the local TT's here. So this guy (who's a 35+ vets racer locally) could have conceivably ridden in the US Pro TT and made a respectable showing. Shouldn't he be in the Vuelta and not the Nyack Ride?

Tyler rode pretty fast (s.t. as B. Julich) but I've never seen him looking so strained. That had to hurt.

He looked defeated. Mentally, and physically. He's never again going to have the form he had while undergoing 'treatments'.

He's also 35+ and trying to come back after a long layoff from UCI racing. All things considered that performance wasn't so bad.

That's just how he sounds in interviews when a teammate does better. See the 2006 Tour of Flanders where Hoste went with Boonen for the final miles, while Hincapie stayed back. George said something like "That was supposed to be me," after sprinting to finish 3rd. Meh. It was either him or Leif to get smoked in the sprint by Boonen, anyway.

Lighten up, Georgie.

To do list at T-MOB for 08 Hincapie season.
1. Work on getting in the break.
2. If not in break, whining in post race interviews not allowed.

video highlights from the Versus coverage yesterday:

road race

time trial

Hamilton looked a bit overweight and not too pleased to be there. Hincapie did look pissed afterward, although I am not sure he could have caught Levi even if he had tried. John Devine did a good job helping out, wonder if he has a team for next year?

Looked to me like he was just trying to get sweat out of his eyes without taking his hands off the bars. But yeah, overweight for sure (for a pro bike racer anyway).

Except I didn't detect any resentment on the part of Levi. If anything all through the tdf he seemed all too eager to sacrifice himself for Contador. George, on the other hand, expressed resentment, unmistakably.

was anyone else surprised as i was to see tyler racing the tt & road race? even more to be listed as riding for tinkoff but not wearing the kit?

i know hes served up his 2 year suspension... and hes taking tinkoff to court... but i thought there was still some big operacion puerto suspicion ... and i thought maybe his team had already dropped him? guess not.
