Rider ID contest

Let's spot the over 40 crowd here. How many riders can you identify in this photo taken at the 1989 Blue Ash Dash in Cincinnati?

I'm not quite 40, yet, but isn't that a Grewal in the Crest kit on the front row? Alexi, perhaps?

It looks more like Rishi to me, but I've met him in person, and not Alexi, so I may be biased...

7-11 doug shapiro?

any chance on getting an image that's not an homage to georges seurat?

would any of those Crest riders be Scott Moninger, Glenn Sanders, or Chris Carmichael?

I think the Crest guy, two to the left of Grewal, is Scott Moninger and I didn't think Rishi wore specs.

i think one of the crest riders is dave brinton on the raleigh next to the guy wearing the pink giro.

are you sure of the year? i know the crest team at one point rode cannondales, the early ones with the ellipitical seatstays before the 3.0 came out with the cantilevered dropouts. i remember because i bought a 3.0 when they first came out in '89. and thse guys aren't on team bikes which were white and had blue and orange little triangles all over them

I was thinking the Pepis rider could be Roberto Gaggioli. But he was on Eurocar by 1989.

You're right. All the GT MTB pics from the past, he never had any on.

Correcting the date to 1988.

Merlin was extra right. Gaggioli rode with Eurocar-Vetta in the 1989 Tour de Trump.

Botto gets a point for Shapiro and Moninger.
We're not deducting points for Charmichael. Not sure if it's Glenn Sanders or not.

zzzwillzzzz is not to be messed with. That's Brinton next to Gaggioli.

zzzwillzzz probably rides with Brinton around SoCal. There is also a Montrose (socal) jersey behind Shapiro and to Shapiro's right a jersey of a team from the valley (I can't think of the name right now) but the rider almost looks like John Wordin. I am pretty sure that is not Moninger to Grewal's right, I want to say Craig Schommer (sp?) but I'm not positive. I wanted to get Gaggioli but I couldn't post at work. I think that is Tomac in the Ten Speed Drive jersey behind Gaggioli. I know he rode for somebody after he won criterium nationals by himself that year and then he rode for Celestial in '89 before he went to 7-11.
