rechargeable powertap batteries?
I'm going through a battery every two weeks. I can get them cheap but am concerned about the hazardous waste I'm producing. Does anyone have a source for rechargeable powertap batteries and a charger? Thanks!

Yeah...you should be getting several hundred hours out of a set of hub batteries.

Yah.. I go through batteries in 150-175 hours on the hubs. About twice as long for the CPU.

that's been my experience, something around 4,000-5,000 miles seems to be my average on the hub batteries, and I've only replaced the battery in the CPU once. (although I've also replaced the CPU itself once.)

I put in about 14k miles this year, and, while I only use my PT about half the time, I've changed each set once.
So, to echo the other people who replaced at around 5000mi, unless you did around 360 miles per day during those two weeks, something is wrong.

One thought would be the setting on when it goes to sleep (assuming we're talking about the CPU's battery). Mine's set for 4 minutes. You can adjust it up or down which will affect battery life.

Another thing I thought of is this year I had a bad battery holder and it was "shorting out", but that was killing batteries in 2 days each time.

In any case- you can buy these batteries rather cheaply on eBay (the 2032s and the 357s) as opposed to paying $3/per battery at CVS, etc. The 357s are used for medical equipment so there is a pretty big market for them and the 2032s are ubiquitous as well.

Check your firmware. I was going thur batteries about 1 a month, but upgraded from 5.33 to 5.67 and the problem appears to be solved.
