It was a given.

"I am stopping competition ... It's a definitive decision," he told a news conference. "I don't want this sport anymore ... I'm slamming the door and I'm leaving."

"It's sad that my career is ending like this but I want to restore my honor ... I will prove that I'm not guilty and get the results of this test rescinded," he said.

"I don't think cycling is dirtier than any other sport," he said. "We're 150 people, where are the others? Where is tennis, where is football? They've been told not to touch them."

Tennis? You're kidding me right Vinny? Tennis?

>>"I've the impression that cycling is an orchestra with very good musicians but a bad conductor. That's the reason the sport is a mess."<<

Correct. Whining perhaps, but correct.

No kidding. If you think you get a lot of resistance from the Lance fan boys, just try suggesting the possibility that Tiger hit the juice (probably HGH) the year he muscled up. You're better off calling Mother Theresa a ****.

You dont need HGH to muscle up enought to hit a ball long. A good weight training program can do wonders if the genetics are there to make the gains and you eat enough of the right food. When i was playing golf back in the late 80's, I was also weight training at the time. The extra muscle i added by hitting the gym and the constant practice at the driving range saw me hitting 300+ yards off the tee on a consistent basis. Not always straight unfortunately. I wasnt lifting to play golf better. It was just a nice consequence that it helped me off the tee. Its a shame that a few bad apples have spoiled culture surrounding sport in such a way that even if you do it clean, people are still gonna doubt you and you can never stop them from saying otherwise.

As for Vino...

I think Officer Barbrady says it best:

"Move along people, nothing to see here."

And water.

We will lose the Great Lakes, but we will play decent lies.

Purple star trumps gold star.

+100 Everytime I see a golf course, I think of how many horses I could put on X number of acres. :)

bac 12-07-07 04:17 PM

It is rather unfair to attack Vino just because he got caught. It would be fair if it were "just a few bad apples" doping. However, as most know by now, pro sporting in general is rotten to the core relative to doping. Sadly, it's not changing anytime soon regardless of the rhetoric.

+1

Who would you rather watch:
1. a doped-up, aggressive, slightly crazy Vino
2. a doped-up, boring Levi
3. a doped-up, whining Cadel

I'll take Vino FTW.
