A very worthwhile goal! Those are some tough grinds.

For myself no goals or schedule yet. Seeing how the comeback training goes, I may see the Track before the Road.

I wish I could plan that far ahead. But I've got a family, a job, and other priorities. Things tend to change my plans - but that's OK.

I do, however, plan on doing as much of the Greenville Spring series at the end of Fenruary and beginning of March. But, there again my 10 year anniversary is March 8th.

Greenville Spring Series
Week 1 February 23rd & 24th
Week 2 March 1st & 2nd
Week 3 March 8th & 9th

I hope all you do well and get in as much racing as possible.

It's less than 2 hours without traffic. The start/finish is near I-15 about 10 miles north of Escondido.

9/6 Bogus Basin Hill Climb 26th /31, slowest time in 3 years

A few other crits as well, maybe a few collegiate races too.
Goals: win a crit, 270w+ ftp, cat 3
didn't win a crit, hit my ftp goal, didnt upgrade

Should have put more effort into my training last year, I skipped too many training rides and didnt have a strong enough ~5 min power for the shorter climbs, resulting in being dropped quite a bit.

2/2 Boulevard Road Race 'C' priority cat 4 Finished in the top 20

2/17 Toms Farm TT "C" priority I just want to ride my TT bike Finished 3rd

3/8-9 Murieta Stage Race link "B" priority doing this as a warm up for San Dimas Dropped out of Crit due to bad reaction with a med OTB on the last lap after covering to many breaks with no help really didn't race smart

3/28-30 San Dimas Stage Race. "A" priorty 45+masters Raced as cat4 Stage 1 bettered my PR by 58 seconds but still was 20th. Stage 2 my job was to attack the KOM leader and help my teammate get the jersey, he had a mechanical and I beat the KOM leader on every climb finished 20th. Stage 3 crit finished 6th

4/17-20 Sea Otter this would be an "A" race if I do it. Still haven't committed yet, didn't do it

4/26 Devil's Punch Bowl RR "A" priority Major chest cold didn't do it

5/10 Masters Road Race championships 'A" priority 45+ masters Work conflict didn't do it

5/24 TTT championships. Masters 45+ didn't do it

6/17 San Fernando Crit Bad stomach upset during warmup finished top 20

6/18 Glendale Crit Teammate off the front on lap 2 basically spent the race shutting down breaks, led out my teammate for the last 700m

My goal was to win a race, that didn't happen. I did race well for most of the season. If I had raced smarter at Marrieta on day two I had the legs for top 5, I got stronger every day at San Dimas and had the legs and delivered my teammate at Glendale.

Pluses for the year. Leaned a lot about racing aggressively and team tactics
Minuses for the year. Couldn't stay healthy consistently to build on my fitness.

Oh, I was so naive! I got a real license, of course - one day licenses are a rip-off, not worth it. Glad I didn't go that route. I started doing C races after Columbia/Princeton, the competition in D wasn't enough for me to learn much. Anyway:

Mar 1/2: Rutgers ECCC Season Opener (ITT, crit, circuit race) - 1st race! 8th, 10th, 8th.

Mar 8/9: Philly Phlyer w/ACCC (TTT, RR, crit) No TTT for me, exploded the RR on the first climb but DNF'd when a kid took me out on the descent of the big hill, "crit" was actually a really nice circuit, got 4th.

Mar 15: Columbia Criterium Won a prime and got 2nd place. I'm still kicking myself for losing this race - I was way stronger than anyone else, but I completely blew the final sprint.

Mar 16: Princeton Orange Classic Horrible flat, windy "circuit race" (actually a big crit). Doesn't deserve the name "classic" in any sense. Boring race, finished mid-pack, 24th or so.

Mar 22/23: Pittsburgh Steel City Showdown w/MWCCC (RR, crit) Didn't go.
Mar 29/30: Penn State Nittany Classic (TTT, RR, crit) Didn't go
Apr 5/6: Army Spring Classic (TTT, RR, crit) Didn't go

Apr 12/13: Boston Beanpot Classic (TTT, RR, crit) Real tired for these races, managed 18th in the RR after dropping a chain and having to chase back on on the first lap. Crit was horribly sandbagged and I was spent anyway, got pulled.

Apr 19/20: UVM Vermont Weekend (TTT, RR, crit) 12th in the RR after a botched attack put me over the center line, got nothing but tired out of it, fair enough I think. 6th in the crit (5th in field sprint). Damn downhill finishes.

Apr 26/27: Easterns Only did the RR, got absolutely demolished. 34th or something.

I did indeed intend to keep racing - it's a blast, and my early results were encouraging. I might someday be able to win a race or two. I did Cyclonauts in preparation for Fitchburg, but crashed and broke my bike. No money for a replacement for some time, so that was my racing season. Better luck in 2009, I guess.

May 9-11: Nationals

As a first time racer in collegiate D's, I don't see myself doing all of these. Especially not nationals. Let's see, goals: do a couple races on a one-day license, see if I like it. If I do, get a real license and keep it up. Try to not get dropped. Especially at Beanpot, where I want to make a good showing. If I like it, schedule and money allowing, I might see about continuing to race after the collegiate season. We'll see.

When I'm not "the guy," I'll be working hard to get a teammate in front at the end. not enough teammates this year
I'd like to crack 18:00 in a Tuesday night RunFar TT (8 miles) 18:12... grumble

Calendar is limited because weekend time is so valuable in the family:
Pace Bend RR 15th
La Primavera @ Lago Vista RR 16th
Ronde Von Cele RR (maybe Belterra instead) 1st (renamed to Ronde Von Manda)
Austin Downtown Crit 1st
Houston Grand Crit 9th
Houston Bear Creek Crit 7th
State TT/TTT champs didn't race
Tour de Gruene out, broken collar bone

Some Driveway crits raced three: 2nd, 1st, 1st
Countless Tuesday Nighters won several Bs, a couple top 5s in the As
Tour das Hugel out, broken collar bone

I'm hoping I can get my FTP from 4.0 up to 4.3 or so. Got to 4.2 W/kg. Right now, I think I'm at 4.5 W/kg, in the 2nd week of build (Feb/March peak)

Goals?
Just once this year not be outgunned, undertrained, and overfed.
Since this thread is back: utter failure on all three counts. Learned a lot, had fun and holy christ am I fatter than ever right now.
