glad to see slipstream & barloworld. Dont care about Astina; the kit was their (most recent) Rubicon.

You're right. Teams should only be allowed to enter races based on the attractiveness of their kit.

Amen. And no yellow kits at the TdF.

i want to see the highest quality bike racing, and knocking out two teams full of riders that have animated stage races in the past is pretty lame. a few of those continental teams are pretty lame in comparison.

Doesn't look good for the TdF either. Rumors that they won't be invited and now the Giro says no, wouldn't be suprised if they miss all the grand tours.

I agree. I don't understand some of their choices. They really turned it into a domestic Italian race. It seems like they are going backwards with the Giro, it will certainly hurt the race's credibility as a GT event. Putting continental teams in and excluding ProTour teams also lessens the competitive sportsmanship.

With the growth of races like Quatar and TDU, I don't understand the Giro going backwards with other races close to the schedule gaining prestige.

I was not being literal. The level of infighting, stipulations and personal negotiations between the teams and the organizers will not be public. So, it may as well be their kits...

Astana clearly doesn't offer enough high quality riders, they only have the #1 and #3 finishers from last year's Tour de France. They'll have to recruit better talent and re-apply next year.

It is this kind of stuff that will hurt the GT's worse than doping. It will come down to money with out the pro teams and when the GT's lose money they will change there minds. Maybe not this year but my guess it will happen.

It is the death sentence. Team Astana is a brand new team with an old name. It is cutting off the head because of a headach.

No doubt Astana would be in if I were on the roster...

I'm having trouble figuring out why High Road was not invited. They have one of the strongest anti-doping programs. Can anyone offer up suggestions? It's still this Sinkewitz garbage that's got them down?

Not terribly surprising, really... Though the TdF is another matter - it'd be tricky to keep the returning champion out.

Glad to see Barloworld.

I can't see High Road and Astana missing all three tours, especially when Mr. Oil For Drugs Diluca is in.

I've summarized the reasons for why some teams were excluded on my Giro page:
