Millar TT Powertap

Sorry if this was covered in one of the prologue threads, but did anyone else notice that David Millar had a Powertap head unit on his TT bike even though he was running a disc? Do they make disc wheel compatible PT's now or was this just a sponsorship deal. I mean he couldn't even use it as a bike computer could he?

Slipstream, Zipp and Saris got together and made a Sub-9 Zipp disc with a Powertap hub.

....and who said you could not learn from BF.... Did Zabriskie run one as well? I did not notice it on his bike.

Slipstream also got hooked-up with Garmin, which makes me optimistic that the new Edge 705 (May release now) will be PT compatible...

Nothing really new here, but I thought I'd post the pic anyway.

In addition to the disc, Powertaps also have a "computer" mode that can be used with a regular wheel and magnet to just give speed, distance, time, HR, etc, just not power.

Interesting, but if my PT head unit did not provide power, it would rank about 300th in my choice of cycling computers. I hate the 3 line layout.

I haven't gotten a PT hub built into my Stingers yet, but I have a harness on the race bike. Instead of buying another computer for that bike, I just put my PT head unit in CPU mode and race with it.

You're right, it's not the best choice for a computer if you're just buying a single computer, but it's a nice option if you've already got the head unit.

Its just so that you can use a race wheel without power info for a racing situation, and only need one computer on your bars.

900 dics and clincher discs will also be available with the PowerTap hubs.
