I "Cat 3" raced last night
First cat 3 race: Short, super-fast downtown crit.
Didn't win, but took a cash preme (W00T!)
Alls I know is that someone turned on a pain switch and it didn't get shut off until 5 minutes after the race. I really think I can do well as a 3. My training will have to be better - no doubt. But I don't have any negative thoughts rattling around in my head. And believe me, it won't be easy. Just doable.

That's awesome. Sounds like you had a good workout.
I am really trying to upgrade here. Racing is most of my training and so I know that racing with the big boys is going to make me better.

Congrats! Take your time, it took me 15 years to win a race after I upgraded to a 3

The best part of this is working with a team. When I shot off the front for the preme one of my mates went to the front to block a bit. It worked. Only one guy contested. Plus, this being my first race in the category, they were willing to let me know what to do and when. A "yelling" of sorts. I really think I have the engine for this. Once my confidence is built I really think I can win something.

Genetics have failed me
You're moving up the ranks quite fast. Congrats!

Noticing the post date, was this a put on?
Either way - Keep on, keepin' on.

Not a put on. I went through some serious crap earlier this year. Serious.
I'm off my meds completely, working on a positive frame of mind, and reminding myself what's really important in life. Racing is here for fun. If I always remember that, I won't be disappointed.

Nice job!
BTW, I was looking to see how you did on that Sunday in April but I couldn't find any posts. Judging from how you're riding now, I trust it went well?

Well honestly, to get enough points in a year with the competition I'm dealing with, it could take a while.
Some of my teammates have been in this category several years.

I just got my upgrade in this morning. The last race of the year is in two weeks. I can do the cat 3 race and if I'm feeling stupid, the P123 race too. Help me.

I just sent in a request for Cat 3 upgrade. We'll see what happens, since I don't really have enough points as a 4, but I have some M45 results, and experience "back in the day", so maybe they'll let me back in.

Good stuff Sub!
IMHO it's much more fun when team tactics really start to come into play. It means you have to go fast AND think at the same time.
Not as easy as it sounds.
Keep it up and start planning your off-season.
