Sitting around waiting for the new frame(coming today) is killing me so I decided to make the SRM match a little better

1 coat of primer
1 coat of base black
2 coats of clear
Since my foot rubs the crank arms I cut out a clear plastic decal for each arm to prevent rubbing the paint off.
matte silver was just going to look a little off with all the black and carbon

I would never do that to mine, not the arms at least. My crank arms have so many little dings from road debris and dropped chains. Hope it holds up though
If it doesn't work out, you could easily remove the arms later on and have them hard anodized.

I went thin on the paint and weighed it before and after, 10g for the paint and 5g for the decals. Its a freaking SRM ama if I was worried about weight I would have skipped on the custom frame, got an addict and an fsa srm *couch*RacerEx*cough*.

Nice thing about paint on bare aluminum is a little brake clean and elbow grease and it comes off. I didn't want to anodize since I cant ano or powercoat the chain spider unless you remove all the internals.

hey this isn't the weight weenie forums. We can respect the fact that the color scheme must match.

Why would you laugh at a square taper/octalink/isis bottom bracket? They have far less drag than newer integrated bottom brackets. Yes, laugh as I save energy over your megaexo.

Will SRM still honor the warranty on a modified crankset? I know it's only paint, but most manufacturers won't warranty parts that are modded after the sale.
Then again, if you just bought a Ruegamer frame and an SRM crankset, you probably have the means to fork over the cash for a replacement, warranty or no. Which is nice.

Let's be honest here, your bike is going to be beautiful, and you obviously can't wait to get on it. You've already got the pedals on the crankarms!!!!!

Mine is past the waranty period. I have a buddy who had the spider painted as well and srm have no issues with servicing it.
Well it went back on my other bike since the frame didn't show yesterday.
