    Jimmy legs.

    I got... the jimmy legs.

Not incredibly often; but after some mega-intense efforts, generally 5 or 20 minute intervals, I'll stop... but my legs won't. They'll start shaking, almost uncontrollably. Think shivering, and multiply the amplitude by about five-ten. If I concentrate I can make it stop, but usually I'm too tired to care.

Am I defective? After you answer that, do you have any comments on the jimmy legs?
Reacting is mind candy; it requires no thought. Thinking is tedious.

I've had it climbing, drag racing (at the track ) and while standing on the ramp of an aircraft waiting to fling myself out - that's mostly a fear/excitement response.

I've never had it on the bike from exertion, but I'd get it fairly regularly from weight training during the bodybuilding days. I wouldn't worry too much, but you could be underfueling or recovering poorly.

Yeah, I've never had that issue on the bike. You warm up, do your thing, cool down. Really no anticipation involved unless it's your first crit.

But damn, I'll second the drag racing. Every time I stare down the tree it gets me going.
It's not how many miles you ride, but how hard you ride them. Time trials aren't races.

yup, only from heavy weight training... after a particularly brutal leg day, I always new that if I got jimmy-leg while standing at the urinal, that my workout was appropriately difficult. good times...

got it last weekend after trying to snip off some of the other people who had fallen off the back ahead of me. my bike was making a funny sound and i didnt want to make it worse for the race, so instead of riding friday, i went for a long slow jog. could barely stand after i got off the bike i was shaking so much (had cramped up for a while during the race too.

chugged some water and a gel and i was fine.

"Why, Jimmy Legs is down on you."

I have nothing to contribute, but wanted to throw in obscure literary references. A little beer-clink icon to anyone who knows where that comes from.

    EDIT: no fair googlin'
At least I offer my own disaster.

Its not that obscure, if you read a little. Of course...

I occasionally get them during intervals. As far as I know, it's not out of the ordinary.

Take a water bottle, add two scoops of protein powder and water. Screw cap on tight place between knees while experiencing "Jimmy Legs" until legs stop or fully mixed. Drink. Perfect recovery drink for "Jimmy Legs".

I get them after sprints sometimes, but only with static pressure. If I'm trackstanding at a light, my forward leg will start shaking unconrollably -- pretty funny.

When a couple of my training partners see this they shout "The VEIN! The VEIN!" then they attack the green light from behind me.

    Obscure?

Yeah it happened to me a lot when I was first on the trainer with my new bike. I think it can come from incorrect fit and lower confidence. Luckily, both are easily fixable!
