Charge pond training race: Results

Where: Plymouth, MA

What: 20 mile circuit race. 1.3 mile circuit with one sharpish right-hander. Basically flat course.

Who: 20 or so cat 4's and 5's

When: this morning at 10am

Why: I'm stupid.

Conditions: horrible. 35 degrees and raining hard, five 2-4 inch deep puddles on the course and some nice pothole... basically the worst conditions allowable. The A race was cancelled, to give you an idea of how the weather was.

Ok, pace was slow, pack was sloppy, race was easy, except for the fact that everyone was soaked to the bone. Fingers were numb by the end.

I wanted to try something different and after hanging out in second wheel most of the race I attacked hard on the last lap up the "hill" and opened a decent gap. Held it for about 3 minutes, realized it wouldnt quite stick and sat up. nice try. (455w for 3:17) caught back on to the pack and sprinted on dead legs for a third place.

It was fun to try something new and I feel fine about how it went down. Learned more from this 3rd than I could have by doing my typical sprinter thing, that was nice.

Wells Ave tomorrow barring snow...

Avoided hypothermia and got my rain gear dialed in.

Damn. I live in Plymouth and had no idea about this. Good for you for biking in that snow/rain mix, but it makes me not mind missing it so much.
