I raced, too. (Strasburg)

I raced--2nd race of the year.
Two laps, OTB.
Three laps of ITT.
Finish and not DFL.

NomadVW was there. I'll let him tell his story himself--if he wishes. He said after the race that he was heading to the Adirondacks and would be off-line for awhile.

I was there too. That cat. 4 race was a huge pack... like 90 something? I'm glad I did the Junior 17-18 for my first race since I have only had a week of training in because swimming just ended. Man three laps in that wind would have been not fun at all. I ended up getting first in the Junior race and my team mate got third in his age group.

Sounds like some good pain there, congrats on pushing through to the finish.

Nice, that was my teammate you edged at the line, today was his first race ever. Nice job!

Yeah there was a lot of talk about NomadVW today, hopefully he shares his story, it's pretty priceless.

Raced the enormous cat4 race, long story short, I kept dropping my chain every time I shifted to the big ring, I made the split then eventually got spit out the back, I would loose so many positions, I had to shift so slowly so I didn't drop the gd chain. I rode the last 2 laps with Labrat_62, nice meeting and riding with him. His teammate won again this week, that's 2 in a row.

Why wait? I'll PayPal you $0.25 to tell the story right now and he can clarify things when he's back online.

Dude, was that you who lost your chain, for the first time, after that first hill? I think I heard your stream of explatives!

I have a PayPal account, but I won't restate his account of his race even for $1.00.

I think it's best heard from the man, himself.

Yup that was me, I was in the blue Iron Hill Kit. Were you in our race too?
Labrat_62 said you were there, are you doing Kirkwood?

That's very tempting but I'll have to pass. I gotta see how he tells the story.

bogarting the Nomad race 411. Bummer.

Adirondacks? Maybe wisdom seeking from PCAD? O'Donnel? Britney? Lindsay?

Yup, did the Cat 4 race.

Kirkwood? Thinking about it, but probably the 50+.... for the experience. The smaller field will make it easier to navigate--if I can hang with the pack, low probability that the 50+ field will fill up any time soon.

Asked him whether he would see pcad. I thought he said something abut emailing him while he was up there? (from wherever he and his family are staying, perhaps?)

Maybe Nomad plans to hook up with pcad for a post-CP ride. Dunno. Lots of speculation here.

He did an awsome race for his first race. He seemed to be pretty inteligent about racing and everything unlike a few of the kids in that race and he had a good sprint. I didn't know you guys had junior racers did you start that this year?

Yup that's all my mentoring paying off, ha ha. He is our first junior, he trains with us and is really improving all the time. Seems to really be into racing. I drove him yesterday, he said some complimentary things about you as well. The two of you should work together this year, and dominate the 17-18 yr olds. I keep hearing rumors about another junior racing for us but have yet to see him.

I'm surprised the star of yesterday's cat4 race hasn't posted his story yet. Perhaps he's still getting wise words of wisdom from pcad.

WTF, dude! All this buildup for a 30th place finish? Unless Tom had a two-minute lead on the field, crashed while raising his arms doing a victory salute, and then had to crawl across the line with his broken bike on his back, I'm going to claim faulty advertising.

Ha ha ha, you're getting warmer! I thought he would have posted by now, though not sure I would have if I were him. I will admit, the more the build up, the story will loose it's value. I don't know Nomad or I'd tell it.

Ok...it's no big deal. He made a simple mistake--costly, but simple during the heat of battle.

Btw, I'm doing this so that he doesn't need to feel compelled to respond to this thread if he so wishes. He seems to be a really good guy and family man.

The jist of his story to me was that he made a mistake regarding what lap he was on. He and another guy were out in front on lap 4 of 5. As they approached the line, I believe he said something to his breakaway partner about taking the sprint. I think Tom mentioned getting a weird look from the guy. As they approached the closing stretch Nomad busted out his best sprint for the day and won lap 4, including a celebratory arm wave across the line. Then he was passed by his breakaway partner, who shouted at Tom something about one more lap. [Whoops!] By the time he got himself together, he was passed by much of the pack. Having given his all during the sprint, he was blown and that's why he finished where he did.

That's is all.
