First RR Victory

After a long winter of training it was good to see a result finally. Had a shorter RR this past weekend in Kentucky about 45 miles or so and came out victorious. There were two climbs in the race about a mile long or so and suprisingly I made it over both times with the lead group, I have never been able to climb at all before and worked on that alot over the winter. After both climbs we had a lead group of 12 people. The last 6 miles I had myself and two teammates. One of them was covering small breaks and the other was setting a high tempo on the front to prevent more attacks. I covered two attacks and was able to sit in for most of it. At the end of the race I was able to out sprint the guys I was with and took the race by not even half a wheel length with the bike push. The thing that amazed me the most was that this was a 3/4 race and Im a 4 so I was pretty psyched. The fact that my team worked so hard and we were able to make it happen made all of us super psyched!

Nothing like a good old adrenaline burst to get you over the climbs. Nice job.

Nice work--I'll bet the hill-climbin improvement is very rewarding. Winning a bike race takes a fleeting combination of luck, skill, and having teammates doesn't hurt either. Hopefully you bought the beverages of choice for your teammates after the race.

Excellent job. It makes it all the better that team work contributed to your win. Did you share the prize money with your team mates?

Big congrats to you. I feel fat and slow after this winter, and I did train, although on my recover days, I drank heavily...

Edit: I mean, it definitely would be. I haven't won a race yet so I don't know.
