    I won

Finally. Ronde Von Manda M35+, 51 miles, gentle rolling hills (pretty flat), medium wind for Central Texas.

I made it into the main break (actually started it 2-man, with KS, the guy who's doing really well in M35+ this season). By the time he and I were caught, it was down to 12 of us. I attacked that group, and when we were caught, it was down to six. KS had a teammate, so I gapped him off the back of the break about 100m, then sprinted away from him (he cracked so hard he couldn't get out of his pedals and fell over, right there).

Gradually, it got down to four of us, one was a teammate, but we have not gotten kits yet. I outsprinted KS for 1st, fairly easily. KS 2nd, teammate 3rd.

    It was a good day.

    Steel wins!

Nice -- I guess you are evidence that 1) Training with power can make a big difference; 2) Steel is real; and 3) Tall guys can win bike races.

So now that you are winning with such ease, what's the next challenge? Taking down RX and his addict / aloha? From your report, it seems you were toying with the others in the race. You're a beast.

Congratulations! You've earned the win with all the training you've done. Train like a monster, race like one...

Thanks! The funny thing is that the power file isn't impressive at all. I think I just went hard enough at the right times. Train hard, race easy, I guess (didn't someone say that racing is easy, training is hard?).

KS actually slid out in a turn (it was raining off and on, throughout). He kept it up, but found a ditch. I stopped the break to wait for him. He's a class act, and I have no interest in beating him that way. Really really nice guy. Strong as hell too (he's got a 28.5mph TT on the local course).

    So much fun!

Congrats. I didn't win, but I was there... I hung on for my usual spectacular pack finish (4/5). It was good rainy fun. There was one wipeout at a corner involving 8-10 riders, but everyone got up and finished, including the winner, I think.

I still think RX would kill me. At least this was a course where the steel didn't slow me down at all. My teammate (Cat 2) was on an Addict...

Congrats, WR. We all knew it was a matter of time.

Great job. I hope to experience just a small percentage of your good fortune next saturday in my first race of the year. Also a M35+ race.

    And yes, steel is real.

    Congrats on the win!

Maybe you're due for a custom IF or something and not a plastic bike if you're planning on keeping steel real haha.

Perfect conditions for taller, heavier cyclists like us!

You've definitely been squeezing the most out of your training, congrats on the win!

Congrats, Rockets! You missed the afternoon fun. Wind was insane. Waaaaaay worse than this morning (like 5x?).

About 10% of the P/1/2 and 3's fields were able to finish the race. It was that windy. Either way, I think the team did a good job of promoting it's first race
