S. Florida racing..

Hilliest race of the year (so far) on Saturday and my fat ass eeked out a top 20 (13th) out of a field of 65. 12 laps with ~130' of climbing per lap over 45 minutes, you do the math.

Sundays race, not so good. Fast and furious 35+ field with a bunch of locos en cabezas who race like they drive on the Palmetto Expressway. Amusing.

Best ride I did all weekend was the Himalaya with my god kids at the Dade County Youth Fair.

And because it didn't happen without fancy pie charts and graphs:

That is all.

Congrats Ken! Glad to hear it went at least fairly well. Sounds like a lot of the work is starting to pay off. How big was the lead group at the finish in the circuit race?

Did they have the Zipper? I've always been too terrified of anything other than a ferris wheel, bit I've heard they're fun.

P.S. I'm at least about 12 years younger than you, and I don't see those kind of average heart rates in races. Sheesh! Way to be able to push it!

There wasn't really a "lead group" in the end. It really was a race of attrition. I was a dozen seconds behind the guy who got 12th; he was ten seconds behind the guy who got 11th, etc.. I can't even begin to describe how many people were crying on the first hill by lap 8 (I still can't believe I'm talking about hills in South Florida).

Yes, the fair had the zipper. The seven year old wanted to go on it, but he was too small. We did take him on the platform drop, the himalaya, and the ring of fire (he's fearless). The ten year old and five year old didn't care for some of the crazier rides.

To amuse them some more I allowed myself to get strapped into a 360 degree gyroscope thing which flipped me around every which way but loose and nearly left my lunch on the sidewalk. They also had elephant ears and cotton candy.

I love how the fair report is longer than the race report. Well done!

The IMG tag is your friend. You need to find a place to host the image.

I was there, those hills were killer!!! towards the end of the day, top pof the first hill felt like 200 degrees. Luckily you didn't get involved with the massive Cat3 crash on sunday.

So the cat3 race was a crashfest? Damn, I'm sorry to hear that and I hope everyone heals quickly. That crit was crazy the way everyone was acting; I had my rear wheel knocked out of true in the final crash of the m35+ race.

ok- lets try this...

the last dip in the graph to 20mph was avoiding the crash on turn one of the last lap. (ruined any chances of a decent finish.)

Hmm.. 10.14AM, crash in first turn of last lap. Sounds like you were in the same race I was and had the same shizzly luck. I'm the guy on the litespeed who pulled off the course when someones foot (or other body/bike part) went in my rear wheel in that corner.
