I'm out, but I already did the collegiate version earlier in the year. I love this race!

I'm so tempted since I have been doing a lot of climbing lately and think I could actually hang with a road race for once, but my team wants to do the Chuck Pontius crit the next day, and I don't think I'll be worth scraping off the pavement the day after a road race.

I'll be there in the 4's. It was the hardest race I did last year by far. Don't really understand why either, other courses have the same amount of climbing, this one just seems to hurt more.

in the 4's. is it just me or does 1500' of climbing per lap not seem like that much?
anyway, i regret registering for this. i am SO not feeling the bike racing thing right now. i'm gonna die.

Apart from the fact that all 1500 feet come in the first three miles, not really. As I said earlier, on paper this shouldn't be a that hard of a race, but who ever paid attention to that.

Making a kilometer blurry
That would be 9.5%. Not shallow.
Good luck guys. I have to live vicariously through climbers

We are pre riding the course on Sat. Sounds like the climb is similar to the Rock Store. Yes?

I hadn't seen a profile for this race, so last year I made one. Here it is, along with other comments about the race:

Yea our team's riding it sunday. It's a stair stepper climb and the pace does ease up just a little when it levels off for the first time in most races. 3-4 "stairs" so it does get pretty steep. Pack never seems to regroup either, when it shatters, it stays shattered.

So most of us will be paying to do a solo ride?
Oh, and now I know where I'll be in comparison to you if your idea of a weekday ride is 80 miles while mine is commuting to and from work.

Well it splits into groups of like 5-10.
Actually this was supposed to be my biggest week, taper starts soon. Before this week my longest rise since base miles was like 50 miles, and even then only a few times. Maybe 7-8h a week.

Eh, if I want to add intervals to my training, I have to put them in after the climb up La Tuna on my way home. That's the main reason I think I have a chance at hanging with this race. Climbing La Tuna on the weekdays and Baldy or Angeles on the weekends has improved my climbing abilities quite a bit.

I'm out, been really sick the last 5 days, bad case of the flu. Did the pre-ride yesterday and got dropped by two girls who were having a conversation the whole time up the climb. This morning I couldn't even manage 45min spinning on the rollers. I'm weak like kitten. Good luck to you all, that's tough course!

Hi,
I'm in -- Masters 50+. Right now, two laps of pain sounds better than three.
