Hartford Crit - Finished and didn't crash !!

Raced the 40+. Shoulda been more aggressive with 2 to go just as a guy crashed right in front of me, but I still should have gone all out. Was about 20th out of 125. Did the 30+ right afterwards, which was a tad faster, finished 40 out of 100 or so. Gotta get back into crit shape for these fast races. Wanted to break to top 10 in the 40 +, but not gonna get there the way I raced today. It was pretty easy staying in the top 1/3 though so "maybe next time".

It was a pretty clean race. I think he got squeezed trying to sneak up the curb with 2 laps to go. He was the only one that went down, so I'm glad there wasn't much damage. Saw him in the next race, so I guess he was ok.

Bummer. Glad you were able to get going again. I would have raced 4's if it wasn't so late.

I did the 3s. I sprinted on the wrong lap, I mean I tried to take a flyer with one to go. Yeah. I still can't believe I did that. lol.

Friend of mine went down in the 4s with a bunch of other guys at 4 to go. Ended up in the ambulance (did you know the hospital is a few blocks away?) and we went and checked up on him. He has a cleanly broken collar bone (no lump) and a lot of road rash. Another guy went down and I think he also got to ride in an ambulance too.

Ends up the attending doctor is a BFer and really getting into cycling. lol. So of course we talked about bikes, equipment, blogs, BF, all that.

If you ever go to Hartford ask for the doctor with the 1988 Tour winner's last name.
