Downhill TT?

Why don't they make a special race for downhill time trials? I think it would really test bike handling skills and the size of ones manhood as well.

They do, on MTBs.

It wouldn't really be road cycling, more like motorcycle racing. Guys would go to full leathers, full face helmets, heavy frames and wide tires. You could just stipulate that the competitors not turn on their GSXR-1000's engine's and coast down hill.

Red Bull tried something similar

They even had Paolo Salvodelli signed up for the 2006 version, but it never went off as I recall.

i know mtb's get it, but i think it would be pretty intense to see cancellara fly down a mountain road on his P3C and see the speed he reaches

He'd get demolished by Savoldelli on a regular road bike.

Destroyed.

Eaten alive.

They'd both probably get destroyed by some of the fat, old USAC moto-refs.

There was a TT held down the Poggio at Sanremo in the 1987 Giro d'Italia. It's pretty rare though.

From what I remember they didn't hold Red Bull Road Rage in 2006 because of fire danger. Tuna Canyon is no joke. That road is freaking steep and technical. Our team has had more crashes on that road than any other in the area.

Road rage

Red Bull was kinda funny. I think it's a bit of a gimmick but fun nonetheless. I believe Steve Bauer competed one year. And there was one guy who filled his water bottles with coins or lead shot or something of that nature. Seems the one thing that unites all cycling disciplines is extreme suffering. Not sure the downhill TT has that, unless you fall off...

Holding an aero tuck for an extended period of time is really painful.

Yes 8 km. Won by Roche. 1987 was a great year for him.

How about a downhill sprint finsh while you're at it? Should generate some spectacular carnage.

Tour de Dupont/Trump or something. Hincapie disqualified for taking his hand off the bar to let someone know he was there. In the highlight no push off. Sprinters were running 55 or 56 big ring for this stage. Come to think of it, this stage ran multiple years.
