Reston Town Center GP

Evolution Cycling along with The Bike Lane is excited to present the 7th annual Gold’s Gym Reston Town Center Grand Prix. The course remains the same with 8 turns making it one of the most challenging technical courses in the district.

Registration will open at 9pm on Thursday June 5th on BikeReg.
Please use the link below to view the registration and other race details. The race flyer will be on the www.EvolutionCycling.org website shortly.

https://www.bikereg.com/events/regis...p?EventID=6665

The Reston Town Center is a great place to bring the family to watch the racing. There are many restaurants and shopping. Gold’s Gym will be providing demonstrations of various fitness classes throughout the day.

Same course as last year, don't think we had motos though...

I might bring sliders, though, especially for that tricky turn 5.

You will this year. The chief ref approched me at Bike Jam about working it. I think the plan is 2 motors, one lead, one trailing and no pace car. Like they did at Southern MD Crit.

i worked turn 5 one year when the early races went off in the pouring rain. the brick crosswalk there combined w/ all the speed folks carry down that little hill before entry made for equal parts spectacular and incredibly stupid wrecks.

are you going to race or are you going to work all day?

I wanted to do it this year too. But money talks and my BS legs are taking the easy ride for this one. I might strap my bike to the back of my moto and ride the WOD trail after its all over.

Damn, that course just made me break out in a cold sweat...and I like racing crits... At 1.25K and 8 corners, the leaders are going to catch the tail end of the field in no time...

How many actually finish this without getting pulled?

About 1/3 of the starters, i'd bet. Don't know for sure though.

more than that. about a 1/3 of the starters will finish. attrition is big on this course because there's no recovery.

edit: i thought you said 1/3 wouldn't finish. pardon my quick reply.

doubling up at reston takes some big cajones.

aside from the altoona crit up in the tour de toona, reston GP is my favorite crit. aside from T5, which is at the bottom of a hill and goes from a wide descending road to funnel/narrow uphill, it's not that technical of a race, but is very fast.

I got shelled at Reston last year as a 5, I'm hoping to survive a little longer this year as a 4.

I'll definitely be there to watch. If I feel like I'm in any kind of shape after this month of packing and moving and packing and moving, I'll race it.

It's a very highly competitive race and fun. No where near as dangerous as it looks. The tight turns are up hill and slow and the fast turns are wide open. Not sure if I'll make that one this year though.

Crap. I'll be out of town that weekend. Oh, wait, only women's open? Nevermind; hanging out at the beach back home will be a lot more fun.

Does "real quick" mean minutes, hours, or days? Did the 4's fill up fast too?

The 5s filled up in less than 48 hours. The 4's aren't full, some guy just signed up for the waitlist (don't know why)
