What's the deal with the "water hole"? Did someone set up a mister or something?

Yeah. The guy has been setting it up for years. The riders go through it to get some quick relief. Cool idea.

O'Brien's water hole. He had a hose the first or second year, then started setting up some gizmos so he didn't have to get up to spray the riders.

Anyone else have pics?

Smokin' hot !! 97 when I left. Out of the 190 men's riders, only 81 finished. Naturally not all because of the weather, but I bet quite a few. They were seriously suffering on the Wall, especially the girls. After the first lap many were being dropped.

It was freakin hot out, but I had a great time. Showed up early and rode 2 laps of the course...then hung out on lemon hill and kelly drive for the rest of the day....got to the line for the last two short laps.

Hot. I had to stand for most of the race, in the sun, and on top of it all, I had to wear long pants and a black shirt

I can't believe the amount of work that goes into the thing, it's mind boggling.

There was some talent in a blue bikini on the Wall somewhere, but I don't think I got that on (virtual) film, and I have yet to review whatever I got. It's a cheapo camera so I have no idea how things came out.

I don't know if the guy "Z" who totally hooked me up with cold water is on here but he did and I thank him for that.

I work at PCT (race organizers) and was at the finish all day - wearing khaki pants and a black polo shirt all day almost killed me...i had heat rash all up my legs when I got home and my ankles are still swollen. I must've drank at least 2 gallons of water and think i only pee'd twice

know what? it was all worth it! i got on one of the motorcycles for a lap and i got flashed going up the wall...fantastic, i tell you.

it was great. Had a good view of the sprint, whoever got 2nd place (i believe, too lazy to check) did a nice tongue out sprint.

Tyler Hamilton was eating a SNICKERS and as he was halfway through with it he chucked it. It fell right at my feet.. so i stood there with people around me looking at it, then some lady came, picked it up, and seemed a bit too ecstatic about having this half eaten snickers in her hand.

Oh when my friend and i just got to the race.. we were walking and apparently it was the women's finish.. right next to us the final crash happened. Heard a tire blow out followed by a little pileup. One of them was carried out on a stretcher. We were also standing next to one of the coaches who was talking to the riders on the radio, was interesting seeing that in action. Well that's about all the highlights for me that day

We watched the race from Lemon Hill too. We were at the Scott tent, we'd watch the live coverage on their big-screen TV, then run out to the barriers as they roll by. Running back and forth with the crowd (mostly my girl's teammates) during the last three finishing circuit laps was crazy fun.

They had a couple of kegs out too, but I just couldn't get myself to drink in that heat.
