NorCal-NorNev District TT (Sattley)
Start lists and time are out and I'm screwed . There is a elite 3 championship event in so-cal but they group it as elite open in the north. After a quick glance I'm so out classed. I was hoping to get in the top 5 based off last years times but now I dont think so. On the bright side my 8:43:30 start time in the tropical Sierra Nevada mountain range should be a toasty 50ish degrees. I know PizzaMan is going to be there anyone else?
DocWJO feel like TTing in my place?

Josh,
I'm sure you'll do fine since you have the home course advantage.
Good luck and I'll see you out there!

I dont think home course advantage counts on a flat TT. It's sad this is the closest "race" to Reno and it is still 45 minutes away.

Don't mince words
We passed on the tandem race this year. We aren't that good; i.e., we suck.
There's always next year.
Hermes and Velodiva were to ride both individual and tandem TTs. My friends on a red Trek tandem borrowed our TT helmets to ride; they weren't beaten by much at Dunlap and wanted a chance to redeem themselves.
So now we want a report. How'd you do?

I saw Velodiva rolling around, kinda hard to miss her bike. That thing is zoomy looking.
Well this was the third time I've done sattley and these were the best conditions yet. Slight head wind going out and a tail coming back. I was borrowing a friends P3C and thought I had the position down when I did a 14 mile TT on Tuesday but I was wrong and about 20 miles in I had horrible cramps on the inside of my thighs and calves. I pushed as hard as I could till the end and got a 52:26 so my 3 year history here looks something like this:
2006-1:05:12
2007-57:20
2008:52:26
While this was a great improvement for me it was only good enough for 6th in the elite men's open. Roman Kluin of healthnet did a 49:18

52:26, nice. Also cool to see how you have improved, nearly 13 minutes in two years.

@Bantam Yeah 40k course 28.8mph avg
@king-tony I had never done a uscf race prior to that first TT cause I feared crits and RR and hadn't been riding very long. I think I rode 1500 miles total the first year. It's not comparing apples to apples and last year the conditions were horrible, the wind was insane.

I think your time was great! It was 2 minutes faster than I rode so I would have been very happy with anything in the 52's. I was just off yesterday. I wasn't prepared for the bumps in the road and my hands kept shaking free altering my position. On the way back I was so sore I was actually lifting my butt out of the saddle for a lot of the bumps. I saw 1 guy come across the line whose TT bars had come loose and were down below his front wheel.
I'm happy to put the TT bike away and look forward to races with lots of verticle over the next 2 weeks.

I competed in Sattley in the 20k W 55-59+ category race and then 2 hours later in the 40k tandem 110+ mixed category race. Seemed like a good idea at the time . . . .
I had a start time of 8:07 for the 20k (field of 4). We spent the might in Truckee and I didn’t sleep well. I had a good warm-up on the trainer and although it was still quite chilly (still about 40 degrees), the skies were sunny and the winds light. I just never felt right from the start – my legs felt great but I had trouble breathing. I think it was a combination of the altitude and irritation from the dry cold air. It was inevitable that Laura Lindgren (she set the national record at Sattley last year in this category) would be #1, but I thought I had a good chance at placing second since I had competed against the other two women at the Beat the Clock TT on Canada Road two weeks earlier or at Dunlap the week before and had beaten them both by 1-2 minutes. That was not meant to be – I ever got my mojo. The three of us – Phyllis, Marsha, and I - finished within 12 seconds of each other!
Results:
1. Laura Lindgren Velo Allegro 30:47.0
2. Phyllis Ohrlich Webcor/AV 32:31.3
3. Marsha Kirschbaum Left Coast 32:38.0
4. Velodiva Webcor/AV 32:42.8
It was a great competition, but I am still disappointed.

Hi Velodiva,
Sorry to see that you just missed 3rd place. Still, you were right there with the rest of the women from NorCal.
I see Laura pretty regularly. She races with the Masters Men on Tuesday nights and I see her on the road periodically. She races with the "other" Long Beach club but we're still friends.

Or a tailwind both ways.
In other words, congrats on a smoking time!
