Watching the TdF coverage and Paul commented that top track sprinters can put out...........yes.............1000w!

Where do they get this stuff sometimes?

I heard something like that earlier in the week, and they were putting the road sprinters at 1300-1500, which I suspect is more than a little on the low side.

Track sprinters do ~2300 (as reported elsewhere by Jamie Staff) but only *very* briefly, typically on standing starts in the kilo.
