I don't know about combining 5s with anyone else, lol! This year (March - May 2008 before I got sick) was my first attempt at racing and wow, did I stink! If 4s get put into my class, I've got even less hope. I had lots of base miles but not enough know-how. Needless to say, I got schooled.

Yeah, that's because of the 35+ 4/5 division. I think Cat 5s should have to race together, possibly with a B race. The 4s can race M35+. I'd like to see the category breakdown of the M35+ 4/5 races (how many 4s vs. 5s).
On the other side, I can appreciate the numbers they're fighting, but why not just have 35+/50+/60+ if they're going to eliminate a race. Why strand anyone out there with 40/50/60? I don't see the point. Our state TT champ is over 40, so he can race with them. Who else are they scared of?

It's pretty much academic for me. It just determines how long I have company and until a race would turn into a training ride witrh a entry fee, lol.

Well, the proposition passed. My team voted my way, which was nice to see.
So, forced upgrade at 40 points...

I'll upgrade if you let me race masters
(well, I still need 2 more good results, but I"m 3/3 wins in category racing this year)

All those years of breathing to rech 45+ down the drain.
The worst part is in 2 years I'll only be 48 and WR will be 40. X, on the other hand, will move up a class (I think), so I've that going for me.
I guess I could take up ranone, uh randohne, rnodonuerrin, riding a real long ways for no apparent reason, just to say I did.

Yeah I just read the TXBRA thread on the new formats. I'm kind of in a wait and see mode; in any case I have no intention of going after TXBRA cup points. Racing is just for fun and I'll continue to make my race choices on that basis.

you've got an advantage, knowing a potent wheel that others may not know of...
Yeah, I'll see what categories are available at races, but I'm expecting to not have many M35+ options. The first race is on my birthday, and I'm going to come out swinging.

No, I'm really not racing. That's BS. Now I have to put up with a bunch of Cat 3 sandbaggers protesting a rule change. It's not fun for me or anyone else.

It sounds like there are fewer than ten racers who are even capable (34-38 cat 3) of protesting in this manner, and I only know of one other Cat 3 35+ rider who is a race winner in 2008. I'll tell you who he is if I seem him line up with us

I know... It's more the idea of the whole thing. IMO, if you have the results to cat up, you should. See: Colton or Draye... If you can win a Cat 3 race, you can be competitive in a p12.

"I... uh... don't have enough time to train. Yeah. I'm not going to kick everyone's ass again no matter what category I'm in. Yeah. That's it."

Don't tease me.
Yeah I feel I can get to the point of contributing at that level, I just don't want to race for 4 hours. I like racing, but not that much. If I could race M35+, I'd upgrade as soon as I got the points, then hit M35+ in the road races and P/1/2 or M35+ in the crits.
At this point, I'm not a sandbagger though, with only 15 points
