Thanks.

Export them all as .csv files and then merge the .csv files making sure to change the time as necesary and then import that back into poweragent

In regards to the larger fields more quality debate I would submit Montana as the exception to the rule. Ridiculously small fields, but everyone I have raced with from their is hard.

As an example one of the guys would chew on rides and gut it the whole way. Not on some sissy 2 hr ride, but for 5 hrs.

That is gross and hard.

I tried that, maybe because I'm on a Mac, I can't merge them. I can't open CSV on the Mac, thanks though. Any other suggestions?

CSV is just a text file. Use any text editor. Alternatively, you should be able to import them into a spreadsheet.

you cant open your .csv files with numbers or excel or open office? You may have to use the import command in one of those programs

I am on a mac as well and I can open .csv files in all of the programs listed. Open office is totally free

Open the program first and then open the file from the program rather than just trying to open the file directly. If you have never opened a .csv file with one of the programs then your computer will not recognize it.

Also, Google docs is free, and it's already installed for you. http://docs.google.com

Can you import a CSV file with it though? I had tried to import some data a while ago and was not able to. They are always make changes.

Edit: nevermind...

YE ROCK!! No wait-now my fiance is going to want to use my laptop for her nursing-better keep it a secret. Thanks a lot.

here's a power/workout related question. Say I want to try the 1125211 death pyramid tomorrow -- do you guys do an even 5 min between each?

I thought that most rested the length of the last interval between each.

I did 5 minutes. 1' 1' 2' back to back with 5 minutes between is bad enough.

Dubbayoo 03-31-09 11:04 PM

Do you guys pay for Trainingpeaks Online?

I can't imagine two 1 minute intervals within 3 minutes counting for much

Background:

Okay, new to using a PM. Just got one in January. Been base training all winter with intervals only once a week as prescribed by coach. Intervals are low intensity and focus on climbing, low cadence out of the saddle, just below threshold. I had LT tested in December and watts were at 180. Re-test at beginning of March (197 FTP) after 10-13 hours per week of base and 2-3 days per week of weight training.

I had a big training week the week of March 16. Just over 16 hours of ridin'. Mostly base, but two hard hill training group rides. TSB dropped to -70 after that week. Also developed a bit of tendinitis in my right knee.

Anyways, took some time off last week - only rode recovery for 1-1.5 hours twice due to knee, and came back this week. On one of the recovery rides last week I noticed that HR was way down and watts were up slightly. I had to crank it up a notch to get HR to respond, but dropped rapidly when not pedalling and on downhills. Thought I may be tired from the previous week although I didn't feel terrible.

Rode Sunday night, watts up and HR down across the board. Today a "moderate" interval day according the coach. Previously I've averaged about 185 watts during this type of interval. Tonight watts averaged between 221-224 during the three intervals of 17 minutes.

Powertap calibrated and zeroed properly before each ride.

Questions: How does power just all of a sudden appear?!? All the base miles from past four months just suddenly catch up with you? Almost 40 watt increase is substantial. Thoughts?

umd 04-01-09 01:21 AM

Yeah, 5 minutes or more in between. If you have the schedule budget, 8 minutes would probably be about perfect. We get as little as 4:30 sometimes depending on when we need to get back to our desks. Other times longer. The intervals get you further into that AWC zone if you take the time to let your liver suffer through the lactic acid processing (which is what might make you nauseous).

+1

Well, it's fine for a variable VO2Max workout, but my 1125211 pyramid is for AWC development (the 5 is just to freshen you up, not for AWC -- you actually will feel better/stronger after it).

+1 (although, the technique was just a discovery that turns out to be well known in the kilo community... as a "kilo" ;))

Where has ElJamoquio been anyway? I probably owe him a lot of royalties from the last month or so.

Dunno, but last month I was doing my pacing intervals with the last one ending at 337 watts. Took 4 days off and when I did them last night I wasn't maxing myself out at 350+. Sounds like the rest let your body recover, heal, and progress. Don't fight it, go with it.

Oh believe me - not fighting it!!! I think it is just crazy, that just one day, BOOM, instant jump. I was expecting it to be more gradual. Made me think something was wrong with my PM initially!

Apus^2 04-01-09 08:01 AM

My power has gone up 25-30 (320-345/350) watts in the past 4 months training with power. I do know that after a build block going into a rest period I'm wiped. I get stronger (fresher) just taking that time off. I'm aiming for another 5-10 watt increase this build period, making my ftp for my first peak 350-360.

Holy crap!

Awesome!

I'm hoping to hit about 300 for FTP in the summer, but I don't think that's going to happen.

How much do you weigh?

Apus^2 04-01-09 08:38 AM

175 lbs. I hope to get to 170, but my wife strategically places ben & jerry peanut butter cup ice cream in the freezer to keep that from happening.
