Didn't we already answer that question? Trainer power is down between 5%-10% versus the road. That said, don't get fixated with the number. It is just a number to set your training levels from. Change from that number is what is important. Finally, pick a test method and stick to it.

Another Quarq question...
Is it normal that the display will show lines when you stop at a stoplight and are not moving? It's like it goes into a sleep mode until you start to pedal again. When I download my files to WKO there are gaps where the power drops to zero, stops recording, and then picks up at 300-400w as I leave the light\stop sign (yes I stop ).
I'm use the powertap and it would always just sit at zero until you pedaled away...

Any chance the dropouts don't correlate with you stopping at lights/stop signs? Maybe the battery's just low. Check the cadence magnet as well, mine's gotten pretty dirty with road grit before and I've suspected it to be the cause of similar issues.

I’ve had my powertap for some time now and put thousands of miles on it. It seems to be working fine.
Is there any preventative maintenance to be done?

I just got a great deal on a 2nd PT from another BFer (teammate who's moving). Will be nice to have one for the trainer and commuting.

Just had a look at the latest file and the drops definitely correlate with stops along the route as we leave town. Once out of town everything is normal.

Weird...would your garmin happen to be a new 510/810? I'm only familiar with the 500. Maybe this is expected with newer devices/firmware.

Nope, it's a Garmin500...But I am running firmware 2.4 which is outdated...
I emailed Quarq with a snipit from my WKO file for their comment.

Isn't 2.4 before they let you always record 1" sampling? "Smart Sampling" or whatever they call it, is a bit of a disaster in some situations.

Quite possible...
I can tell that when it does drop out it goes to 'smart recording' by looking at the raw file in WKO. Where there are dropouts the data points are not every second, but if there is power/cadence then it's every second.
It's interesting, when the speed is '0' (stopped) there is no cadence or power showing, but if there is speed then the cadence shows up as '0' and power '0' (coasting)...

ugh...im not doing that ever again...suffer that bad for those numbers? eff that.
and to add insult to suffering, my garmin went to 'auto pause' three times for a few seconds during the test. Im adding a few watts for that.
