My Joule 2.0 didn't create a ride file today, even though I could still see all the data on screen. I had to manually enter metrics into GC. Anyone ever had that happen before?
I saved the ride, but it's not in history either. Just to test I spun the wheels and created a 15 sec ride which did show up. It was very hot today, if that means anything...

Try this:
Connect the Joule to your computer. Empty all old files into the recycling bin. You must now “empty the recycling bin” for those files to actually be removed from the Joule because of some quirk.
I found this out through customer service as the same had happened to me. If that doesn’t work, you may need a more in depth work-around for which I point you to customer service.

Newbie needs help here:
I did the Time Crunched Cyclist by Carmichael for 8 weeks and it paid off (by my standards).
I do want to improve on holding my SS-PI efforts for longer durations. Would 2x20s help me? 2x20s at what intensity?
I also have to test sometime this week. I tested last February and stuck with the FTP# for training.
Thanks.

If you raced Sunday and took yesterday off, today is a good day to test. If not, do some openers today and test tomorrow.

Here's my chart from the Thursday night crit. Are these good numbers, or do you think I should do more threshold work?
short warmup, a 3/4 race, short break, a P-123 race.

I recently started training with power and wanted to ask how everyone goes about tracking their workout (during the workout) structure. Meaning, do you guys memorize that day's workout, or program them into Garmin, tape them to stem/top tube, or any other idea I have not thought about?

Write workout on paper, put paper in pocket in a plastic bag.
Trying to use the Garmin workout features doesn't work for me, I have to be able to modify my intervals a little due to terrain & the occasional stop sign/light, so having it all programmed in is too inflexible.

I've done both. For some of my bread and butter workouts, I've taken the time to program them into the Garmin. The thing is to find the correct window for your target wattage. I think I have 20w on either side. Otherwise the stupid alarm is going off every other second.
The sharpie on duct tape on the top tube works pretty well too, but it requires hitting the lap button on the Garmin if you want to mark the intervals. Or don't and just look at the data: it's pretty obvious where the intervals are.

For easy workouts, I just remember it. For more complex ones, I use a piece of scrap paper and clear tape. I've got a couple in the Garmin, but only a couple.
In some ways, that's why I'm OK with doing WRI's (even though they completely suck). It's 1 minute at next to WFO. You don't have to look at anything...you don't have to think...you just have to lie to yourself to make your body continue to function until the timer reads "1:00".

For simpler ones, I just memorize them. For more complex ones, I have a roll of one inch cloth surgical tape. Stick a strip of tape to my desk, write the workout on the tape with an extra-fine Sharpie, pull the tape off the desk and stick it on my top tube. The surgical tape comes off really easy, no danger of paint damage.

I just do workouts that are simple enough to remember, and use the Garmin to time them.
It gets tricky when doing 20-second on/off sprints, but I just start on :00 and go from there. I guess I could program the Garmin to beep at me or something but I don't.

My Quarq S975 is on its way back to Spearfish. Reading low. They will most likely replace the spider with a Riken. Using the Powertap wheel from the commuter bike, 25mm tire and all.
Any of you watt weenie followers heard of any issues with the Riken?

My Riken has been much more solid than my S975 was. Just taking a 5 second glance at it when you get it and you can tell it's a whole step up. Power is much more stable, especially in wet conditions. I think you'll be happy with it.

Hahaha. Right now i'm debating between picking up a super cheap srm, trying to swap out my frame for a different one, or just enjoying what i have. The struggles of being 18.

Two notes for those who had their S975 spider replaced with a Riken:
1) I had to update the firmware on my Garmin 800 to 2.50 to get all of the ANT+ data from the crank. With 2.40, it would pair and calibrate, but nothing else.
2) The cadence magnet is positioned a lot closer to the center of the spider. The magnet placement I used for the S975 would not trigger the Riken, and with no cadence data, the power read zero. My frame has a BB30 BB with GXP adapters and internal Di2. Can't use the BB ring, can't use the cable guide magnet. However, in the magnet bag is a new penny-sized flat magnet. I was able to stack that onto a standard magnet glued to the frame and get it close enough to the spider to trigger the switches.
