Do I change teams?

As some of you may know from my thread in the road forum, af riend/teammate ran over my Orca and now is refusing to file a claim, so I am out a bike as of now.

2009 Orbea Orca - RIP 11/30/08

My question for this thread is do I leave the team? This upcoming season was going to my first season on the team and the only reason I am on the team is because of the "friend" wanted me to be on the same team as him.

Reading a little bit of that thread, I don't understand why you don't let him just buy you a new frame. It shouldn't matter to you how he replaces it. Sometimes going through the insurance ends up costing you more in higher premiums.

That being said, what has your friendship been like since this incident? If nonexistent, go to whatever team you want, whether it be the same one of not. If you're still friends, what are you concerned about?

I don't feel like reading the other thread, but is he going to replace the frame anyway?

if so, then as mentioned above what is YOUR problem with that? seems like a non-issue to me.

Do you have home owners or renters insurance?

By the way; some friend; I'd leave the team if you have an offer from another; it's your call.

I'd rather race unattached than on a team with someone who can't own up to their own mistake.

Hopefully you have his license number and can file a claim with his insurance somehow.

I'm betting your drivers insurance knows how to find out who to contact, and they'd probably help you out if necessary. Good luck.

Try to file a claim with your insurance and let them sort it out. Depending on the state, that may work.

There's always the police if he's no longer a friend. Or just run over his bike and call it even.

Stay on the team, then chase down every attach he makes next year. When you catch him yell, "I want my two dollars."

if your less than a 3, you don't need a team. go unattached and hose him on a new slc-sl.

You can file the claim with his insurance company. You don't need him to do so. If you have his vehicle info, his company info and his tag number, you can call his company and file the claim. You don't need his policy number.

If he persists in being dick-ish, have some dude with no neck, nor sense of humor, visit him to collect the money. I'd do it, but I'm too far away.

Yes. Leave that team. I can't imagine how you could stay on a team with him.
Sorry about the Orca. Live, learn and go straight for the CAAD9 next time.

that's an ugly story. sorry to read of the challenges you're facing right now, including the bike incident.

do what you feel best about team wise.

a big reason most of us non-pro contract in our future guys select and join a certain team is comaraderie, if you arent getting that with your team and the truck v. bike incident has left you with ill will or awkwardness toward your team mate and other members, then a clean break (sorry) is probably best.

I'd leave the team.

it's not your decision on how he pays for your frame, that's his. he said he'll pay for it, get a frame and get over it. why wouldn't he be your friend anymore he didn't do it on purpose did he?

Read the other thread. The 'friend' doesn't *Want* to pay for a new frame or call his insurance about it...

I didn't have the time to go past page 3 in that thread, but where I left off, the guy offered to pay for a new frame but didn't want to go through his insurance, so the OP refused.
