Wolfpack Cycling Classic
Anyone in NC, SC, VA, WV, TN, DC, GA, etc. should come to the Wolfpack Cycling Classic. The first collegiate race of the season and a big USCF race weekend as well. We had great numbers last year and are hoping for even more this year.

Road Race Saturday, Crit on Sunday. Come out and get tuned up at a great early season race.

I'm really looking forward to the road race. I like the course. I hope it will be warm and balmy like it was last year. That would be really nice! However, I really dislike the crit course. I always get dropped, and dropped early. That bank just gets steeper, then you spend time scraping people off the road at the chicane when you're finished.

^I'm new this year, so I haven't ridden either course yet. I'm surprised you don't like the crit course though, most people have said they like it, that's why we keep using it.

Yeah! I'll be there for rr and crit. I'm a big fan of the crit course, even the "ShaKane." I doubt I will want to race both the P1/2 crit and the collegiate A though, I don't think I am quite in shape for that kind of masochism yet...

^I'm with you. Trying to decide if I want to race Collegiate C as well as Cat 5. It'll be my first collegiate weekend (3rd overall race, I'm doing both Speedway Series beforehand). For the road race Cat 5 and D roll at essentially the same time, so I can't do both of those. But 5 and C are opposite times of day for both the RR and Crit.
I figure two speedway races plus a practice crit with the team should have me ready to just start out in Collegiate C. I hear D is really weird, with vast differences in speed.

Mayyyyyyyyyyyybe.
I'm in horrendous shape and suspect a pack finish in the As...but I could probably still place in the 3s.

"ShaKane" Ooh, that's good. I'll steal that joke
D is not too bad. The first races of the season are always a bit weird, because riders have not settled down into their categories yet. Last year, there were some guys who hung out in D way too long, leaving the true beginners in their dust. That was annoying. However, it is much harder to score points in C, so I do understand the allure of placing well each week. C can be weird too, because riders are jittery. There is a lot of speeding up and slowing down. If that carries on, there will eventually be a crash. However, I found D helped me get used to racing and made me more comfortable in C when I upgraded.
Look forward to seeing you all there. You'll like our new kits

It's not really a joke, more of a play on words of one of our team members, Shawn Kane. Our jerseys have a small space on the back that says "Powered by ShaKane".

I will be bringing some people down from WVU for the race. It is my first road race as well and I don't really know what to expect. I feel like I have C abilities but will be racing D for my first race. I am mostly just nervous/excited to get my first race out of the way and get into the season. And as we always say at WVU "just wait for mountain bike season."

If anyone has family/friends coming to watch the race (or you aren't racing yourself) we still need volunteers to marshal corners, drive lead cars, drive wheel cars, etc. We can pay you for your gas (or you can donate it). The best places to watch a road race are from the cars or from a corner anyway.
PM me if you can help out, or know someone who can.
