I watched the P/1 race in 2008, and holy crap that was fast. My former Cat 1 teammate was just hanging in the bottom 10 the whole race and dying. He can ride me straight off his wheel.

Not sure if they'll have the P/1 and 1/2 categories broken out this year. No Toyota United or Rock Racing, and no NRC USA Crits. Still, it attracts some pros every year, so a P/1/2 race would maybe be 95% of one of your StupidWeek P/1/2 crits?

Gonna be fast...

Yeah, there was a Cat 2 only race this weekend. I didn't have the miles in the legs for it anyway though.

I ticked through the 1000 mile mark during the race on Sunday.

Yep, at least I get good seats now though.

Sweet. Congrats.

I'm looking forward to the race reports and the perspective of an old guy with a real life racing P/1/2.

Congrats WR!

There may be a brief adjustment period, but the fun you, EX, and crew are in for is going to be a blast.

Well, this could be ironic. Kato was separated from the Hornet this year thanks to the bump from 35 to 40 in the Master's. If they do a separate 1 & 2 race, it will be clear that evil forces behind the scene are conspiring. You'd still have several other superheroes to race with though.

Congrats WR! That's awesome! I'm hoping to get out of the 5s this year. That's my goal.
As molusk wondered, are you going to increase your training load from 7 hrs. per week?

If you guys are those heroes, I'm more like Aquaman. My powers are completely useless on a bike but at least I can talk to my pet fish!

Many thanks again, all.

Some might think it's sad, but I value the community we have here on BF, as dysfunctional as it may be.

Yeah, the distance of the P12 road races is a barrier right now. I will see about getting some regular long rides in. I don't think it will take much to get me ramped up in that department.

Really, I'm in it for the crits. Cat 3 crits were becoming a sandbagging affair for me. Not too much training stress, and regular wins. Then I did a p/1/2/3 crit last month, after my Cat 3 crit, and that wasn't too bad either. Time to move up.

I think the P/1/2 field will force me to be a lot more creative on my finishes too.

You mean nobody is going to let you just ride away with 1k to go because 25% of the field can match your jump no problem, sit in, then come around you with 75m to go?

Crazy
