TT or Road bike
3.1k TT with 13 turns. What equipment do you run?
1)TT bike or road bike? (handling thorugh curves vs aero)
2)404 clinchers, 303 tubulars or Trispoke and a disc (aero vs weight v handling)
3) Don't worry, your time will suck anyway.

looks like all 90 degrees, although one is either 180, or 2 very close 90's. Downtown streets. Haven't seen it to know how wide.

A couple of those turns look like only 89 degrees. One was 91 degrees. One 180 degree turn. If you add them all up you get something like 924312 degrees. That's pretty hot. Run the TT rig so you'll stay cooler.

It may be in my head, but I swear tubies corner better than my clinchers. Road + 303.
You're basically hard cornering and re-accelerating every 20-30 seconds.

Run through the course before if you can. My guess is it's going to be mostly if not all out of the saddle sprinting.

Assuming I had a TT bike, I would still use a road bike for this. I'm imagining that this TT will be more of a fun 15 sec on/ 15 sec off drill.

Personally I would go with the TT bike to justify that money that I spent on it and look cool. Though I am not sure what would do best performance wise.

Go road. Better steering, acceleration, and probably bottom bracket height.
But play those corners right. Pretend you're a Moto GP rider. Wherever you have to brake, if only at the U-turn, be on the throttle right until the last second, then reef on the levers just enough to get you through the turn, then power back up.
Some riders lose too many seconds as they casually coast into a tight corner.

I vote road bike with 303s. Go for light weight and handling to allow you to take the corners faster and accelerate faster....

Road bike with 404s. You shouldn't be accelerating too much since you can can maintain speed with proper cornering, and you want the extra aero advantage of the 404s over the 303s without sacrificing the harsh handling of the tri spoke and disc.

how wide are the corners? I know you don't know, but if you could use the whole road, then TT bike. However, looks like you are coming back on the same roads, so you will only have half a road and it seems a better than average chance of a head on collision, so I would actually probably stick with road bike for handling and shifting, but go with aero wheels. Certainly not less than 404's (who would need 303's for their 'superior acceleration' over 404's?). Oh, and for the poster who said 303fr/404rear to save weight, I doubt that cross winds are going to be a major handling difficulty for most with 404 on the front, so if for some silly reason he DID want to save weight, use a 404 front and 303 rear.

I corner faster on the 303's (read I'm more confident cornering on the tubulars.) On a clean sheet of paper, I'd buy 404 tubulars, but the 303's are what I have.

Flat course?
This reminds me of a (car) road race I saw a long time ago. It was run in San Fran, and had a similar layout. They ran a big HP Camaro against a stock BMW. The BMW won.

You'll be out of the saddle so much via sprinting out of the corners. With that you'll be shifting as well. Road bike and 404's. You'll waste time getting in and out of the aero bars and waste time trying to shift out of the corners.
