Tradezone Sunday 3/8

Weather forecast is aces, who's going to be mixing it up at TZ? I'll be there for a warmup in the B race and using my best survival skills in the A.

I bonked horrifically last time I was there and had to have my teammate drive my car home. I'm hoping for a little more success this time around.

While you're warming up in my race, I'm going to be working on my placement. Last time, I had a great workout tail gunning. This time, I'm going to see if I have enough sense, fitness and confidence to move around.

I will see you in the B and then decide if I will do the A as well. Also going to commute today for the first time this week. Rollers were getting pretty old.

Thanks to BDCheung for the W&OD Twitter, I won't have to commute on my cross bike for fear of hitting ice this AM.

edit: so much for BDC's twitter. The trail was rutted and icy once I hit Gallows (heading West) so I dumped off to the street and made my way in from there. I'd imagine once past Vienna things would improve as the section from Gallows to Vienna is often the last to de-ice.

I'm B'ing it up.

Preemptive performance excuse: Saturday's weather is going to have me coming into Sunday with a century on the weekend already. I'll prob ride to and from Trade Zone. Gotta blow out the end of a block, y'know. :-)

Riding from downtown DC (Logan Circle area). Also have a ride offer from a teammate, if I get running late that's Plan B.

I'll be B'ing it up as well. I am going for an 80 mile skyline drive ride on Sat. though, so it might be brutal. See you there. Hopefully they removed the cat liter/greese from turn 2.

Good luck an all to everyone. 100 miles or so for me tomorrow in Bull Run/Lorton and points west of here. Don't crash out my teammates!

I was in the C race today (my first race ever). Just wrote about it in the Race Report thread.

B race--flatted on the 4th lap. Transfered to A race, changed tube, rolled around for a bit.
A race--surfed the pack, closed some gaps (some my own fault, others not so much), sat up for the sprint. Chatted briefly with MDCatV. Good day of training, beautiful day to be outside on a bike.

^^^I saw the crash from the other side of the road. Tough to say, really, but he could have gone left rather than into the gutter.

guy in blue faded to the side... guy in white swerved not knowing or not caring that he was going to bump the other guy... other guy probably shouldn't have tried to pass in the gutter anyway.

2 noob who arent very good at riding bikes, guy in pink taking an un-necessary risk, predictable result.

that thing sounded hideous, I just got out of my car when it happened, I thought for sure the ambulance was going to be necessary but they both walked away. yikes.

How many wrecks were their in the C race today? I saw another one when I was warming up.

Anyways, I *want* to think that the guy in white did _not_ know the guy in red was to his right and yeah, the guy in red pulled a dumb move in my opinion.

I bailed about 2/3 into the B race. I just felt like crap, and now after my nap, I feel even worse with a fever, sore throat, and itchy eyes . This better just be early season allergies, or I'm going to be pissed...

Yeah, going closer to the curb/gutter when you're sprinting is a terrible idea. The guy in front has every right to shut the door and you have no idea where you'll end up. He went too far on the outside. Bad move. He should have slowed instead of trying to get through.

Stop showing up 2 minutes before the race start, and maybe you'll get a proper warm up in!
