Just did my first road race!

It was awesome, I never thought I'd be able to go so fast for ten miles! It was a ten mile time trial on rolling hills in just about perfect weather - 69 F, 6 mph winds. I threw on some aero bars a couple days ago and did one 12 mile ride with them. In hindsight I'd want to do a lot more testing/tweaking with saddle/bar position; it was not really that comfortable but I did notice a pretty huge difference in speed compared to normal. I'd also want to get a recon to the race site done, it ended up taking a LOT longer to get there than I thought. I only had about 8 minutes for a warmup because I got there late and I think that really slowed me down in the beginning - my time out was a minute slower than my time back (or is that normal?). Anyway, it was a lot of fun to finally sack up and compete If I can lose some weight (I'm nearly clysedale and 5'8") I'll do the next TT which is up Mt. Tantalus, which is one of the best rides in Honolulu.

Oh ya, - My time was 27:15 according to my cyclocomp (they didn't have all the times figured out by the time I left).

Thanks guys!
I think I screwed up my results, they haven't been able to find a record of me finishing. I had an electronic timer that I put on my front skewer that was given to me from a pile before the race. At the finish line there was something set up that beeped when you crossed it. I thought this automatically recorded your time somehow so I walked over to the tent and put the timer back in the pile after the race.
Was I supposed to do something else with the timer??

It was 10 miles, so it was more like 22. Still better than I did in my TT last weekend, but mine was pretty hilly.

And just to nitpick, you didn't do a road race. You did an individual time trial. Opinion: they suck compared to road races. Road races are awesome fun.

Oh, haha. Didn't even think about this. I was saying "road race" as opposed to mtb race. I should have said road bike race
