My very first TT

Did my first TT today on a lovely 35 degree morning.

Took 3rd of 12 in the Standard/Non Aero class...i was stoked. Although I lost my number before i started the race.

my time was 34:37 i believe for the 20k...so about 4 minutes off my goal and 3 seconds off second., but there is always next month.

and then i found 10 dollars.

things i walked away with
-get there earlier
-warm up better
-bring every piece of clothing i own.

Have a great weekend.

Congrats. I wish they had a non-aero class here. My body would be perfect for that.

I think my throat would rebel if required to do a TT on a 35 degree day.

Congrats. It was cold.

The guy in 2nd place rode his bike 26 miles to the race, stood around for an hour, rode the race and rode home. He gave me his prize because he didn't want to carry it home in his pocket.

No doubt. They need to do that in more places. It'd be a nice big middle finger saying, ``It's the engine that should determine wins, not your wallet!'' I'd be all over that.

The guy who finished 2nd overall had clip on aero bars on a cheap road bike. That's the real middle finger.

Nice job!

The State TT this year will have a Standard/Merckx class. The only aero thing allowed will be a skinsuit. Should be a neat race.

At first when I read "35 degree day" I thought the OP was in Australia or something. Then I remembered Fahrenheit...

Good work on the TT - especially in that cold.

Seriously? They called it "Merckx" class. That's awesome.

Yep. They describe it as Standard/Merckx class:

Quote:
This category will feature the truest form of a TT: man versus the clock. No aero equipment will be permitted if you enter this category. No aerobars, No aero wheels, No aero helmets (tear drop style), Skinsuits will be permitted but go against the premise. Equipment use will be at the organizers discretion.

Nice job for your first TT.

In 35F weather, the closest I'll get to a TT is watching old TdF videos.

I wish there were non-aero classes in our races too, though I'd still get my butt kicked. There's a guy in our area who routinely clocks ~25mph in our TT's ...on his mountain bike.
