Hillsoboro-Roubaix
Who's in?
I'll be there in the 3's and I'm felling pretty good already having a few longer RR's in me.
Anybody who's done it before have any advice?

I've never been able to do it because of other spring commitments but am very familiar with it and many of the riders. Mesa Cycling has many young guns they will try to set up for the win by putting them in a break. They work well as a team and have been very successful in your category. Be sure that if you see one go off the front with a few others that you go with them. Ohter than that, stay right of the center line. . . it can be a big issue down here at times. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I've been racing with a bunch of the Mesa guys for the past few weeks in collegiate races, so I kind of know who and what to look out for. Do most races end in a break away or is it likely to come down to a field sprint?

Wow I wonder how many US events have "Roubaix" in the title? And how many of those:
- begin or end in a place called Roubaix
- cross over, near, or within a mile of true cobblestones.
- Are older than my current pair of cycling shoes.

Yeah, yeah, but this race has pretty long stretches of brick road, so it's not like the organizer put on a road race that just happened to have ****ty roads and called it "roubaix". There is some legitimacy to the name, at least in my eyes.

I'm not dissing the race; I love those kind of races. I'm sure it's a cool race. Just like all the other US races with "Roubaix" in the name. Heck I signed up for one myself this year. No cobbles in that one either, and no place named Roubaix that I was aware of.
And I'm only moderately tongue-in-cheek grouchy here.
But seriously. Gravel does not equal cobbles. Bricks do not equal cobbles. Not by an order of magnitude.

I kind of want to downgrade to the 3s, move back to the Midwest, and do this race.

I'm probably going to roll up to my first MTB race this year blaring some Skynyrd, with a mullet wig and a half-burnt cig in my mouth (not lit of course...eww), and maybe a gigantic Confederate flag somehow attached to my roof rack.
I moved to Hood River, OR. Don't worry, though. I'll be back to crush souls (and by that, I mean get mine crushed) for SuperWeek, and some other races.
