Downtown Sanford Crit April 26th

I'm headed down for my 2nd annual flogging.

It's a .6 mile four corner criterium with about 7 feet of elevation gain. The climbing is brutal.

Anyone else in?

I wish I was. I always miss this one. It's right after Tour de Moore and the traveling doesn't bode well with the missus.

Tour de Moore is penciled in on my schedule for next year. It's dependent upon how much riding solo I can tolerate by then.

Hate you're going to miss Sanford. One of my favorites of the season. Very well organized and run.

Yeah, a lot of other guys (who apparently work it out better with their SO) do the weekend by staying somewhere in the middle.

That's money for a room, gas, and time away from the family. I don't see it happening. Especially if I don't even stand much of a chance to win. Masters racing hasn't paid off yet.

Me too. So does that mean you're finally going to upgrade?

Slight possibility now.
The only downside would be gone all weekend: Saturday 6am - Sunday 9pm.

Looking better that I may go.

Heck, free racing for me if I do. Free room. Free travel.
Just a lot of time away from my family.

So, should I do the Masters 1/2/3/4 and Cat3/4 races or the Pro1/2/3 and Cat 3/4 races if I go?
I would do all three but the Masters is right before the Pro race. I don't think I could recover enough to do 40 mins then 1:10 mins within 5 mins of each other.

My mentor, tommyrod, who just upgraded to 3's, is doing the Pro1/2/3 and Cat 3/4. It will be my 1st 2 race day as well, doing the Cat5 & 4/5.

My source is our team manager. He needs help that day and is willing to make it worth our while.
I may do the masters then the 3/4 race. If we have more than us two going then our team will probably do the masters race together. We usually do.

Hope all goes well with you there. Look for me. I may be there.

10/28 in the 5, DNF in the 4/5. It was very, very hot. I was very, very hot. How hot? I forgot to bring my ANT+ rectal thermometer so I'm not exactly sure but I was dying. Interestingly enough, after reviewing the Ptap data, the races weren't that different. I think I was just cooked by the 2nd one. Should have brought my HR strap though.

5's = 208A/232N for 25min.
4/5 = 199A/228N for 17min.

Yes, twas hot.

Masters 30+ race: Opened the legs, won a prime, stayed with it, finished.

-- 5 minutes later --

Pro/1/2/3 race: Hung on, less active, finished

-- 2 hours later --

Cat 3/4 race: Very active, tried to get breaks going, almost got clipped during a $60 prime, drug the field back for some friends in the field, cracked, finished.

I do now.

But this doesn't mean we can take warm showers together.

I forgot to mention that my ploy to distract my arch rival, wanders, failed. He picked me up, racked my bike, filled my tires w/ air, bought me Gatorade, and still beat me in both races. Arghhhhh.

Just "applied" for my 5>4 upgrade. I expect wanders to do the same.

Lat night my gf asked me what my goal is with all this. I had no answer.

You need goals. One goal would be to move up in Category. Let's see if you match that one.
