Scott CR1 Limited
Teammate is selling this frameset - any thoughts about it? It's my size, and I'd transfer components from the CAAD9 to it.

Very brittle frame, seen several crack, although they are really light and aggressive. Haven't ridden one so I really don't know how it feels though.

I guess the low weight comes at a cost. Think it's worth $450?

It's definitely worth $450 if it's in good condition but you'd have a heck of a task transfering parts from your bike - and you have a nice setup even if it is aluminum...
PS - Why'd you skip out on Tyson's? That's down the street compared to most races.

I've ridden a friends CR1 that was two sizes too small for me. Its was super light, but it felt sort of dead and not all that stiff.
I thought everyone loved the CAAD9. Is something wrong with yours?

I have a '06 CR1 Pro, which is essentially the same frame, and my other bike happens to be a CAAD9 too. I like the Scott, it has held up well, but it is a very different ride and different geometry than the CAAD9, and recently I find myself riding the CAAD9 almost exclusively because I like the way it fits me better. The CR1 is about 1.5 lbs lighter than my CAAD9 (enought hat I notice a difference on hills and jumps) with essentially the same components, the head tube is longer, the feel is very "dead" and I and find that it is much stiffer in the BB than the CAAD9 (I weigh 155 lbs).
You could go to a local shop like College Park bikes and ride one to see if you like it, but if this is frame/fork/headset in good condition $450 is a good price.

I've owned 2 Scott's. I bought a CR1 four years and after 2 years the bottom bracket sleeve separated from the carbon and was useless. I went to my local bike shop and they replaced the frame for no charge. Then I purchased an Addict roughly 2 years ago and it's been great, no problems whatsoever.
Our roads aren't always the best, and I've pushed mine pretty hard in some tough conditions, but overall the CR1 and the Addict are super light, very stiff, and responsive, just what you'd expect from a high end racing frame. Just make sure you can get the frame replaced should you experience the same catastrophic failure I had w my CR1.

It does not have a replaceable hanger. My teamate just had to buy a new frame when he broke his. To be fair though, he bought the same frame and is happy with it.

i would not buy one new for this reason. But at $450, I'd take the risk.

I've ridden a CR1 SL since '06. I ride around 600 hours a year and race as much as my schedule and fam will allow. No complaints besides a tall head tube. Looking for an Addict...Solid frame ime.

My CR1 has been admirable under my clyde sized caboose. I'll echo the 'dead' comments and yet I'm unable to articulate it worth a damn. It goes like the dickens and handles crap roads with aplomb. Not sure I'd move from a Caad 9 to one. Grass is always greener...

I hear the "grass is greener" comments.
There's nothing wrong with the CAAD9, but this sounded like a good opportunity to add another frame to the stable. The CAAD9 would be around for if/when the CR1 breaks.

Ya know, the hanger thing seems overblown.
Mine has suffered a few tip-overs and fared well enough. Further, the hanger is a pretty soft aluminum that can be adjusted with a wrench pretty easily.
Personally, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but not out of consideration either.
