Why would you want to turn pro when you're already in the Ultimate Cat?

Congrats!

If you're like 90% of cyclists, that's the last category upgrade you'll ever get.

Seriously.

I've made it.

I'm in the Big Show now.

I've heard of a secret racing handbook, but you have to upgrade to Cat 2 to do it.

Cat 3... congrats? Now that you've gotten the easy upgrades out of the way, you'll see how good you really are

Congrats, though, for real. My Cat 3 upgrade high lasted me a whole year.

never made it out of 3s,

Yep, thats pretty much the idea.

This is my third year racing, first year with an actual training program, though I'm still admittedly low tech in my training; I just use a clock.

The real fun part now will be trying to still achieve the goals I set for my season when I was a 4, but as a 3.

what criteria did you use for your upgrade?

maybe it's because I'm fitting the mold of ultimate cat forever, and that when I upgraded to a cat 3 I did so with about 30 upgrade points, that I believe upgrading to category 3 is an accomplishment to be proud of.

congrats carlfreddy. enjoy your upgrade, and dont be psyched out or intimidated (not implying that you are), most racres that are competitive as a 4 are competitive as a 3.

Plus, being cat 3 on road, you can race as a cat 3 in cross races.

at least around here you race whatever you feel like A/B/C. you can 'grant yourself and upgrade' whenever you need the ego boost (until you actually race, then you loose the boost)

I'm a far better cross racer than road racer. Just so happens that riding on the road got me to the 3s first.

Every Tuesday night I'm at Carondolet Park for the Tuesday Night Worlds.

I'm the tall guy in the Manchester Racing/Trek StL kit on a yellow LeMond.

Congratulations Carl. In addition to racing in Cat 3, you can now give all kinds of training and tactics advice on bike forums with authority .
