UCI Pros: Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid.

Because here comes Phinney the Younger.

God help them in a couple of years. This kid is going to be crushing Euro pros for breakfast.

I rode a metric last Saturday. I noticed one of our local X Pros had his son with him. The good and bad of it was:

The good, John (the Pro) was helping his son along the way and didn't intentionally put a hurting on the rest of us.

The bad, I think it was his sons first attempt at a metric and he stuck with it. So, there will be two Pattersons will have to deal with in the future.

If it's in your genes, then I'm in the wrong sport. My fathers only endurance was running from cops and bar fighting.

I think there's some good correlation between being a good brawler and a bike racer. At least in Florida, so there may be hope for you afterall.

Yeah, the kid will be fantastic, but next time at least try and use as evidence a race where I have heard of more than 3 riders in the whole field.

Ya know, we have a local wonder kid a few years beyond young Taylor here. Everytime I see one of these uber performing youths part of me wonders if their being pushed too hard into daddy's dream only to turn into a puff of crack smoke by 25.

Having said that, it's pretty clear he's the 'next big thing' and I say go get 'em tiger.

The correlation is even stronger in Australia.

Taylor didn't even start riding competitively until a couple years ago. I think I read somewhere he played soccer as his main sport through his teens. He hasn't had a good chance to burn out on cycling, yet.

He's a monster on the track, that's for sure.

Yeah, Jr. got into cycling after he met lance and got interested in it. He used to be really competitive at soccer before that. His parents pushed him to do and excel at what he chooses to do, instead of picking what he should do.
