    TT warm-up on a road bike?

    Curious, I often see pro's warming up for time trials on their road bikes on trainers. Is there a particular reason for this? Common sense would suggest warming up on their bike they are to race on. Does anyone else notice this? Am I crazy, or is there a reason for this?

    The TT bike is usually set up so its ready to go. The road bike is set up with a trainer tire so you don't burn through a Tubular.

    When you are warming up, you generally want to get your legs firing. I don't think there is too much of a need to be riding TT bike unless you are riding prior to make sure it works

    I prefer to warm-up on the TT bike, but logistically it is difficult because I swap rear wheels before the start. I don't like doing this because of the possibility of getting the wheel in crooked and having shifting problems. On the TT bike you are obviously tilted forward and recruit slightly different ratios of muscle groups. For this reason I use the TT bike and quit my warm-up 10 minutes early then change wheels and spin around before the start to make sure my shifting is ok.

    Plus my road bike is sweet and the thought of leaving her alone, unprotected on a trainer while I am away destroys my concentration.

    As inflexible as I am, and as poorly adapted to my TT position. I need to warm up on the TT bike to get comfortable in that position.
    You could fall off a cliff and die.
    You could get lost and die.
    You could hit a tree and die.
    OR YOU COULD STAY HOME AND FALL OFF THE COUCH AND DIE.
