points during pending upgrade?

Lets say I put in for my upgrade (5 to 4) on Wednesday.

On Saturday I race a 4/5 combined and place 8th, which would get me 2 points if I were a 4.

On Tuesday, my upgrade is approved.

Do those 2 points count? Anyone have experience with this? I couldn't find anything in the rule book about this.

Just shoot your upgrade coordinator an email asking. Or just go out and win your next two cat 4 RR's and upgrade that way!

Use it as your Ace in the hole. Work to upgrade without them, but use them if necessary. I bet your coordinator would let you.

I think that as a practical matter that's going to fall into your district rep's discretion. When you go to upgrade to 3, put it in your race resume. If the rest of the resume looks like you're ready for the 3's the rep will likely count it.

If the distance an number of (Cat 4) participants are high enough, then it qualifies.

Thanks for the replies. I like that idea substrucutre. I guess I'll just ignore those 2 points and see how it goes...

It depends on how many 4's are in the field and if the fields are scored separately. Most 4/5 fields in that I have seen in our area MABRA don't qualify on paper for a 4 -> 3 upgrade, but ultimately it is up to the digression of the MABRA upgrade coordinator.
