Yeah, that figures. My best 5" is 1650W, but that was at 83kg

At my current weight, I'd need to get up to 1900W. Well, so much for that.

I don't think I've ever seen 1000 watts on my PM.

Why are you guys so strong? You're all dopers, that's all there is to it.

I would completely shat myself if I got 1100. But then I can hold a pretty high number for a long time.

Really?

I'm pretty sure you could do it...

My 5 sec max is ~1220 watts at about 68 kg. I can hold 1000 watts for about 15 seconds.

Past that however...

We are very close. I am 70.89kg and managed a recent 1232. I am no sprinter though.

nice - my new goals

i was not getting past 950's for 5 sec until i figured out i was starting in gears that were too high; i test on the road on a slight downhill, i start in a 53/17 at about 20 mph then i jump as hard as i can and get the rpms up, then shift/spin out, rinse, repeat; managed to get 1150W; i'm roughly 67 kg on average; i think i can get the number up higher with better strength and technique

point is that i scored about 200W by changing technique and i don't even know if the technique above is any good - i'm a watt n00b

I think about 100w of my sprint comes from my treating my bike as if it has wronged me

While I agree, who cares if he's Mr. Personality? He's not hosting The Tonight Show, he's racing a bike. He seems to have that bit figured out.

He should figure out that you can't win the TdF without team mates that can hang with the lead group on climbs like Alp D'Huez. Then he'd have something, and maybe he could be more cheerful when the press tries to ask him a question. It's astonishing to me that people characterize Armstrong as arrogant when he routinely conducts himself in a gracious and forthright manner with the media. They go to ask Cavendish a question and he acts like a nutjob from Oz.

WhatEVER.

Weird. I just looked at the e-wang chart, and my 5 sec is the best, followed by my 5 min. I've never done a 5 min test. Lol.
4.60w/kg for 5 min, 8w/kg for 1 min, and 18.7w/kg for 5 sec. Meh.
LT is 3.74 w/kg. Yes, I'm weak...

+1 If there are times to ride in anger, these are them. It's that whole trying to break crank arms and pull cleats off the bottoms of your shoes, or trying to snap your bars, and REALLY pulling the bars away from the downstroke.
