On earpieces: “I am against them. It is just a ‘Game Boy’ that has a gigolo attached at the end telling the racer when to take a piss.”

What did he say that was so offensive?
Let him have his say and hear him out....
As for Armstrong's twitter, being a 7x Tour winner doesn't seem to help with common sense either.

I'd love for Lance to win the Yellow Jersey this year, even for one day, just to see the look on Bernie's face as he presents it to Lance.

However, I will say that seeing The Badger kick the protester off the podium at the Tour a year or two was awesome! If I didn't already like LeMond so much (as almost any American teenage who racer in the 80's would), I'd probably be a bigger fan of Hinault. The guy was a tough as nails racer, no doubt. Winning Liege-Bastogne-Liege in the snow, continuing the Tour after breaking his nose, riding in to protesters on the race course and fighting with them... Good stuff.

I would like to know what did he say that sounded idiotic. It all sounded reasonable to me.

That wasn't so bad. Besides, how good is the translation? What was written might be a machine translation of what he actually said.

Has coddling tendencies.
Just good old fashioned smacktalk from a jock? Deliberate prodding for the fun of it? Something must have set him off recently. Maybe he bristled at the Giro peloton boycotting the Milan crit stage? Tired of the French pros being such whingey slackers? It's all just good entertainment from my chair. Lance calling him a wanker

I roll my eyes at anybody who tries to stay relevant via jerky soundbites. On the flip side I approve of deviating from polished media-friendly innocence (cough Lance cough). So ambivalent!
