First race, any course tips?

I know, I know.. Search first, and of course there is the It's my first race thread. This is hopefully asking for a little more specific advise.

Did a test ride of the course last night, and it was a lot hillier then I expected. Had 3 riders and we stuck to a decent paceline 60% of the time. We tend to break up in the climbs.

Times still came in really slow.

The biggest problem I think besides not exploding on the first section of rolling hills is the high speed right hand turn at about 3.6-3.8 miles in. It's a pretty decent downhill leading up to it (You can see I'm going 36), and then a hard right hand turn (I braked to about 10-11mph). Turns are a weakness to me.
The course is all chipseal, but decently smooth (3-4 years old maybe). But some road bumpiness on the finishing downhill stretch (that's going to be interesting).
I'll have 6 laps of this. Any tips, or training suggestions.
Oh and first graph is zoomed in to show the first lap the other two are for both laps I did.

when is the race?

hills - go up them hard, dont worry about "blowing up", the important thing is hanging with the pack. be very near or even on the front, that way if you start to slow, you can hopefully latch onto the back of a group going over the top and not end up off the back.

descents - try to recover, stay upright, I descend like a bowling ball and like being up front so I can choose my path.

training - its generally better to be well rested and somewhat undertrained than tired.

go practice your cornering/turning. alot. until you feel confident in how the bike feels when you're turning.

good luck in your race.

Where is the race? Might have to do a little road trip :)

Any ideas on how fast I should be able to take that corner? Or how fast any of you could take it?
It's a pretty narrow county road, ditches on all sides and of course a little loose rock, (I assume it will be swept for the race). I was staying mostly in my lane, and I should be able to take it wider on race day.

Is this from the RR course in the Bellingham Omnium?

I think the pack will dictate how you need to take the corners. Cornering-practice is good, but even if you find a great line through the turns chances are you'll have to deal with 50+ other bikes around at the same time, thus you just have to go with the flow.

I'm sure I'll get my choice of line when I'm OTB...

Just wondering what is possible since I know I'm sketchy in corners. Hell I still have to remind myself to counter steer in nearly every corner or I find my arc opening up and myself riding into the ditch or curb.
