It's going to be a longgggg Tour.

2min 30secs in to the 2009 edition. 2 riders on the TT course.

Phil mis-identifies the rider on screen.

Oy freaking vay.

did you hear Sherwin call Sastre the leader of Astana

edit: I'm not complaining (maybe a bit) but all their Lance shilling is like having to eat thru a pile of carp to get to some caviar.

Too many commercials, poor commentary, yeah, it's gonna be a long tour.

David Millar just about rode into a fence, these guys are scary on TT bikes.

Also, ITT are boring as crap to watch, especially the prologue. It means almost nothing, it's not like the time gaps are gonna be important this early, unless you completely wipe out 5 times (Rasmussen in '05 final TT?).

Because it's sketchy you mean? Or because it's kinda long for a prologue?

If this were a prologue, you would be correct. But it's a 15.5 km ITT with a big climb and a technical descent. So you are very incorrect - this TT definitely matters.

Not "kinda." Twice as long as most prologues.

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times: Liggett needs to be retired. Pronto.

Because he makes an occasional mistake? God forbid you ever make a mistake, we might have to put you out to pasture.

Maybe it would be better to reduce his responsibilities a bit, but I would miss him if he were gone. He's the voice of the Tour to me.

He just said Sanchez isn't a very good time trialist.

He was the Spanish national champion last year. I'd say that's pretty damn good.

We've got hours of coverage in HD. I remember when we had nothing on TV about the tour. Maybe a half hour somewhere recapping the week, or even the whole tour. This is freaking awesome.

The TT is hairy because it's incredibly technical. While I agree that TT's are not normally very interesting, this one is more interesting because it is so difficult.

Jesus, are you always this negative about everything? Or are you just so cool that you're jaded?

He just confused Andy with Frank Schleck.

Seriously, he makes a mistake once a minute at least.

Best to this point was the suggestion that the later riders may not want to wear their aero helmets because it is "muggy".

Contador has a rather large camel toe. I noticed it in the start house, but on that finishing sprint it was quite obvious.

Is he actually a woman?

According to Paul, if you're Lance Armstrong, racing the Giro is good tour preparation, but if you're Denis Menchov, its bad. Oi Vay indeed.

Tomorrow, I'm turning off the volume, and putting the Eurosport volume on my laptop.

In all seriousness, Phil's vision is awful. He needs to put his eyes just inches from the monitor just to make out what is going on.

That being said, I was a fan of his from '89 but he's gotten a lot worse and the Lance, Levi, George lovefest has gotten totally out of hand.

I absolutely enjoy Paul, Phil and Bob. They make watching a bike race more entertaining for me. Their bloopers are precious.

They gush over American riders because their audience are Americans. The announcer of your local sports team will do the same thing.

Wat?

Americans don't watch cycling, ESPN had a hot dog eating contest showing this afternoon.
