Yeah I had alot of fun and got a great workout out there last week so im bummed. Oh well Ill have about 4 or so more thursdays that I can make before im gone.
I have yet to do an actual TT effort up osm.... Ill have to do one before I leave for sure. I ride up it in my threshold zone all the time, but im usually headed up painted cave as well so im not really going all out. Ill have to keep your 17 min in mind and destroy myself trying to get as close as possible .
What's your record time? Nathan told me some local 1's and 2's that are climbers can do it in a hair over 14'

I geek out so much about planning my builds and workouts, which is kinda dumb in my case given that im working with a HRM.
Of course when it comes time to get ready for and start a high-intensity workout, it usualy sucks balls unless its crit practice or something fun like that. It also usually sucks balls in the middle of the workout, especially with shorter efforts.
You'll remember why you made such stupid plans when you end your session and arrive home all endorphinized. You'll also remember when you feel great in your next "A" race.
I always do.

The difference between my PR time and today was 8 pounds and 10 watts.

60 minutes, SST.
Felt good. I was feeling really tired, but I dragged myself out there, and felt fine.
Next time I'm in here whining about how tired I am, tell me to STFU and get on my bike.
Thanks.

its funny the way that works. In the winter the best workouts are usually the ones that I really really don't want to do, or where I feel like &hit before hand...sometimes I still puss out, but I never regret getting the job done.

First non race ride in almost a week.
Felt pretty good out there.
~120 TSS in an hour and a half. Total of about 24 mins LT work, and about 30 mins of tempo thrown in there.
Did some hills. I'm really hoping I finish with the lead group on saturday, though I really doubt it.
I stayed up till 3 am 2 days in a row.
1st day: I was trying to figure out which cranks/wheels I wanted for my SS/FG build
2nd day: I was trying to figure out which chainring/brakes/tires I wanted for my cross build
Egad.

But I can say the same things I did about a training phase as I just did about a new bike build, minus the endorphins of course . It's alot of fun when you're planning on getting new part(s) and get to decide what you want.
What have you decided for the ss/fg build? I had to sell mine recently to fund some new crankarms for the race bike (sob..sob). I put alot of miles in on that thing and am considering building a new one for base riding in rainy wet Humboldt County winter.

Feeling a little better today...pushed it a little, but, not too much...186w avg for an hour (211w on the way out which had, on average, more climbing)...I want to make sure I am feeling good...on Saturday, I'm gonna need whatever energy I can muster because there is no doubt in my mind that I'll be going into the pain cave...

Right now I'm halfway through my first week of the training program I made with the help of teh intarwebz and The Cyclist's Training Bible. Since I'm starting this program much earlier than this book seems to account for, it has left me with a huge amount of time to train. This has allowed me to put more emphasis on base miles and speed skills early on in the season and it has given me immense time to work on FTP and whatnot.

Trek 760's getting built up with single speed/FG parts for funzies. I might try racing a crit with it in single speed setup just for *****s and giggles.
I bought a set of used DA 7800 bits for my CAAD9. All the 105 bits are going on the cross bike.
Though the cross bike might end up getting a DA FD if I can't trade my braze on DA fd for a clamp on 34.9 one. I'd prefer not to use a separate clamp as it's heavier. Oh well.
I'm excited. I need to get the SS built by the end of the week. I hope I'll get there. the parts should be here by the weekend and swapping brakes from the road bike, and assembling an SS/FG bike shouldn't be a big deal.
I think I'll wait till after the race on saturday though as swapping even brakes the night before a race doesn't sound so smart....

How is it that I'm in the best riding shape ever but I still find it hard going up 2 flights of stairs?

Haha. I wonder the same thing. I can ride for hours at decent pace (I'm still slow compared to most racers though), but I get winded carrying my groceries up 2 flights of stairs.
The hardest part of my recovery rides is getting back up to my condo.
Go figure.

Making a kilometer blurry
Candy commercials either.
You know, I still have the Mounds/Almond Joy jingle in my head?
And don't get me started with the hot chick pulling off her sweatshirt in the Dew It To It Mt. Dew waterskiing commercial.
Of course, I've purchased maybe one Almond Joy and zero Mt. Dews in my life.

Neither are cigarette commercials.
Anyway, backed off this week. Feeling good in the legs... that will change this weekend.
